About this idea of giving up....It is NOT hopeless..Here is an example..

Go back to the 1972 election. You can find it easily in a number of places..

...Democrats won one state ..Massachusetts ...look it up..and it felt hopeless. But it wasn't. Nixon resigned in 1974. and Jimmy Carter was elected in 1976. Carter mandated in 1977, as President that some years into the future, 1984,..that all cars have seatbelts. (later air bags and crumple zones etc)..Tens of thousnds of lives have been saved..

.......Now in 1972, when Nixon was elected for the second term, it seemed hopeless but it wasn't. 4 years later a Democrat was elected. 32 years later an Afro American was elected who proposed and enacted a number of progressive programs that also saved lives. (like Obamacare). It seemed hopeless in 1972, but it wasn't. We have to hang in there and fight and not give up.

So, I worked for McGovern, and I rang doorbells, and passed out literature..I remember telling one fellow, that there was a break in earlier in the year at "Watergate" and he slammed the door on me. Who would have known that 2 years later, Nixon would resign. Trumps attitude is ..poison and he will meet his match in about a month. He really doesn't have a clue. Go out to vote...

About the FBI. How do people who work for the FBI feel about being conned?

.....Investigators, leaders, even secretaries have been conned. The FBI was ordered to do a very incomplete study within a short amount of time on a very important subject. The outcome was predicted. Are we talking about 4 days? Or is it 5 days? The FBI has been long known as an outstanding organization that gets the crook. But in this case, the crook goes free because he gets the FBI. I don't think people who have been lifetime employees of this organization, that has high ideals and an outstanding reputation are particularly happy with this situation.
.....It seems obvious that the crook lied to congress, and that is "against the law." A company or organization that prides itself on "honesty" and "getting the bad guy" will not take this con lightly. The FBI has been used by crooks to gain an illegal con that will last for a lifetime.. I do not think we have heard the last of this from the FBI.
....something else to think about ...Mark Felt, who was "deep throat" of the Watergate scandal, worked for the FBI, and I am sure that the FBI took enormous pride in the fact that one of its own broke open that crime with numerous parts and the fellow at the top, Richard Nixon was exposed and had to resign. Keeping that in mind, I will say it again..I do not think we have heard the last of this from the FBI. No one likes to be used in a dishonest way for evil purposes. The last organization that someone would do this to is the FBI. After all, they will come after you, no matter what.

Mocking a victim of sexual assault is an incredible mistake

Millions of women have been assaulted. These women have friends and relatives who have sensitivity for them and with them. So Trump has mocked a significant majority of them. Maybe most of them. Those women and friends will not forget this, and come November the significance will be clear.

....Trump could apologize, but he never apologizes for anything. As usual, he will double down, and do it again. He will be told not to, but he thinks he knows it all so, he will double down and mock her again. He has stepped over a line that only a truly stupid person would step. He is done, and so are those that support him.

...One more thought. Yes, there is a group that will support Trump no matter what he says. That is true. But as people talk about this, (and people will talk about this) that group in my opinion will get much smaller. Some just won't vote in November. And some will vote against the Republican Party that support Trump. How many? The answer will be seen the day after the November 6 election. But guess what? There is a whole month for people to talk about this asshole comment. Plenty of time for an apology..(I don't think Trump will ever apologize) and for people to decide to vote for the Democratic Party, since the Republican Party will support the asshole....plenty of time to talk about this..

For now, Trump mocking Dr. Fords story is top of the news at CNN, take a look.

https://www.cnn.com/

Trump thinks he can get away with it. He can try, but he can't. Why? There are literally millions of women who are victims of sexual assault. I am sure they are offended by this attacking of a fellow survivor. The victims know that Dr. Ford is telling the truth. Trump's focus is only his own.

Victims of sexual assault have sympathy with fellow victims. Trump has no sympathy. But victims of this kind of assault never forget it.. The victims will never forget Trump's making fun of one of them. This is major news if it is at the top of CNN. And I suspect Trump will not apologize for this. He never apologizes and that is good for our side.

McConnell supported Russia in investigation not us, new book by Greg Miller, "The Apprentice"

This book will be published on October 16, and Greg Miller is a Pulitzer Prize winning reporter for Washington Post..The conversation described took place in 2016 before the election. Complete info on this at link below quotes

Here is an quote from the link below...please read.......(this article is from Slate.)
__________________________________________________________________________________________
When Sen. Mitch McConnell was told by then–CIA Director John Brennan before the 2016 election that Vladimir Putin and Russia were attempting to interfere with the goal of assisting Donald Trump, McConnell’s response took him aback, according to Greg Miller, a Washington Post reporter who has just released a book about Putin, Trump, and the election. The majority leader said he wouldn’t sign on to any condemnation of Russia’s actions and that if the administration went public with the intelligence, McConnell would in turn call out Brennan as a partisan intervening on behalf of Hillary Clinton, Miller colorfully revealed in a CNN interview Tuesday.

(another quote from the article, further down)

Jeh Johnson, the secretary of homeland security for the last four years of the Obama administration, describes meetings between top intelligence officials and congressional leadership as well as the heads and ranking members of the intelligence and foreign affairs committees in which they told the lawmakers what the intelligence community knew about Russia’s efforts to influence the election. McConnell “expressed skepticism,” Frontline reported, “and warned that he would not join an effort to publicly challenge Putin.”

personal comment: McConnell was told before the election that Russia was trying to interfere in the election..(Which is exactly what happened, to what extent..we do not know for sure.) Perhaps numbers were changed to favor Trump.??? How it was done we do not know. But I am guessing that the CIA knows, but due to questions of secrecy within the CIA, exactly how this was done cannot be made public.. But to think that McConnell response was that he would attack Brennan and the CIA as.... Hillary supporters .and also, that he would not join in an effort to publically challenge Putin.... is incredible... Why not criticize Putin for trying to interfere in our election??? but McConnell said he would blame Hillary instead....unbelievable !!!!!!!

This book could be very damaging to McConnell....and to see his demise would raise my spirit a whole lot.

The real reason Trump downplayed the disaster of Hurricane Maria..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_disasters_in_the_United_States_by_death_toll

....Look carefully at the above chart. Look at numbers 4 and 5 on the list of disasters.. Trump probably was told that Hurricane Maria was an epic disaster that killed thousands.
(no I do NOT know this. It is"SPECULATION ONLY" ) about what Trump was told(after all, that is what we do here, speculate and discuss)

...Why? The people who live in Puerto Rico must have informed him of the incredible nature of death and destruction. So, he downplayed it. He didn't want to look bad. It was on his watch.. Why give the true number of deaths? Just come up with some number that looks bad, but not too bad. Why would he be told this?..Well.. Puerto Rico is part of the United States of America..a territory, just like Hawaii and Alaska were before they became states.
.... So, as leader of the country that Puerto Rico is part of, Trump would be told..The people living there are citizens of the U.S.A..English and Spanish are spoken there..Is that correct? Puerto Rico is part of the U.S.A...Many of us have friends and relatives living there. Lots of connections there just like in Iowa, Nebraska, Utah, or New York......again, Puerto Rico is part of the U.S.A.

....So, it took months to come up with a number that might be correct..Something like 1400, but no proof. That is the number of deaths we all believed during the spring and early summer..(again, I am not an expert on this)

So last August, after a study was concluded by a very high quality study group from George Washington University, the number of deaths almost reached 3000. ....2982...to be exact.... Yet, there is little understanding of what that means...

so here it is: ....That is the same number that were killed on the 9/11 attack on New York City. Hurricane Maria was that great a disaster.

Yes, it was not covered as much. And yes, we didn't see most of the death and destruction, only some coverage in Puerto Rico...But that disaster was downplayed by the President of the United States. 64 deaths is not 2947 deaths...(also, the media has lots of connections in NYC, not so many in Puerto Rico)

Why? (and this is speculation also) and I hate to say this but, I don't think Trump cares about Puerto Rico. Who knows? But he did not act like he cared. Did he? The media did not give it as much coverage as 9/11 for lots of reasons to be discussed at another time..

(I discovered the similarities in death, by looking at that chart above at the link) I didn't see the connection until today and that is the truth. But I am not the only one. The media has never reported, as far as I can tell, the similarities in the number of deaths from the two disaster.. Why did I look at that? I was researching deaths from Maria and the Indonesia disaster, and stumbled on that chart.. then I saw the connection.

Indonesian Tsunami Death toll hits 1,200, Survivors desperate for aid

Source: NPR

October 1, 2018--Emergency crews are still trying to find victims of an earthquake and tsunami that struck Indonesia's island of Sulawesi, killing at least 1,200 people, according to local media citing government officials.

The death toll could rise even higher, officials warn, as workers clear debris, rubble and vehicles that were swept away by a massive wave of seawater on Friday.

The tsunami was triggered by a 7.5 magnitude earthquake that struck along the coastal district of Donggala on Friday. Most of the dead were found in nearby Palu, a city of nearly 300,000 where an onlooker took a video of the seawater raging ashore just after 5 p.m., local time.

Relief and rescue efforts have been hampered by communication and transportation problems in the stricken region. The damage caused landslides and forced Palu's international airport to close for at least one full day.

Women control this coming election.

If a very large majority of women vote for the Democratic Party in November, the outcome will be a Democratic House of Representatives and a Democratic controlled Senate. The contrast would be stark in many ways. But, women across the country must vote for Democrats if they are angry with this Kavanaugh appointment. And that vote against Republican Party's support of Kavanaugh and Trumps decision to make that appointment, could change politics forever. But if women do not "vote", and stay at home, then nothing is changed.

Huge Surge in Death Toll in Indonisia

Source: BBC

At least 832 people were killed in the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, the national disaster agency says.

Many people were reported trapped in the rubble of buildings that collapsed in Friday's 7.5-magnitude earthquake, agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho told a news conference.

The quake triggered tsunami waves as high as 6m (20ft), he added.

Vice-President Jusuf Kalla said the final death toll could be thousands.

Rescuers have been digging by hand in the search for survivors in the city of Palu
