Parents knew Oxford High suspect was troubled, charged with manslaughter, officials say

Source: The Detroit News

Pontiac — Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald on Friday filed involuntary manslaughter charges against the suspect's parents in the Oxford High School shooting.

Jennifer and James Crumbley — the parents of 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley, who is accused of killing four of his classmates and wounding seven others — were charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of Hana St. Juliana, 14; Madisyn Baldwin, 17; Tate Myre, 16; and Justin Shilling, 17.

“These charges are intended to hold individuals who contributed to this tragedy accountable, but also to send a message,” McDonald said at a press conference. “We need to do better in this country. We need to say enough is enough. For our kids, teachers and all of us.”

McDonald said Ethan Crumbley was with father James when the father bought the Sig Sauer Model SP 2022 9 mm semi-automatic pistol at Acme Shooting Goods in Oxford on Nov. 26.

Despite this song's mention of a "Moschino bra you bought me last Christmas," it's common knowledge that the amazing woman behind the song was actually Jewish. Gone far too soon...Ms. Amy Winehouse and "Take The Box."

Netflix Making Movie About Grandma Who Accidentally Invited a Stranger to Thanksgiving Dinner (EXCLU

Six years ago, a grandma in Arizona mistakenly invited a stranger to her Thanksgiving dinner. What started as an accidental text message — a humorous exchange that quickly went viral on social media — has turned into an unlikely friendship and a heartwarming holiday tradition.

Now, Netflix is turning the feel-good story into a feature film.

“The Thanksgiving Text” will recount the true tale that began in 2016, when Wanda Dench thought she was texting her grandson to check if he would be coming over for Turkey Day. Apparently, she had the wrong cell phone number. She actually texted Jamal Hinton, a high school senior at the time, who accepted her invitation anyway — and has attended her feast every year since.

In their initial exchange, Hinton received a text from an unknown number inviting him to Thanksgiving dinner (at 3 p.m. — but that’s neither here nor there). When he asked who it was, Dench responded, “Your grandma.”

After she sent a selfie, Hinton replied, “You not my grandma,” and jokingly added, “Can I still get a plate tho?”

Dench texted back, “Of course you can. That’s what grandma’s do … Feed everyone.”

And thus, a cherished Thanksgiving ritual was born.

Gov. DeSantis seeks to reinstate Florida State Guard

Source: ABC

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Thursday he's recommending $3.5 million be used to re-establish the Florida State Guard.

DeSantis spoke from the National Guard Armory in Pensacola with Major General James O. Eifert, the Adjutant General of Florida.

"We also want to make sure we have the flexibility and the ability needed to respond to events in our state in the most effective way possible and some of that will require us to be able to have access, and be able to use support in ways that are not encumbered by the federal government or don't require federal government," DeSantis said. "So, I'm going to be recommending in the budget $3.5 million to re-establish the Florida State Guard."

DeSantis said the state guard would act as a civilian volunteer force that can assist the National Guard in state-specific emergencies. He said the money would support training and equipment for up to 200 members.
