Hate Watch (SPLC) is live blogging the March Against Sharia. These people are insane.

In 28 cities around the country, Act for America, an anti-Muslim hate group is organizing a series of events called “March Against Sharia.”

“We, at ACT for America, are committed to protecting women and children from Sharia Law and its impact on Muslim women and children including honor killing and Female Genital Mutilation,” ACT’s website reads. “We must ensure that every woman and child enjoy the protection afforded by the U.S. Constitution.”

ACT’s protests are attracting a host of anti-government and far-right extremists, who have publically stated that they plan on attending today’s events. ACT has already had to cancel its Batesville, Arkansas rally after the SPLC revealed that neo-Nazi Billy Roper was the main organizer.

Antifa groups are set to counter-protest in a number of cities, increasing the potential for violence, but civil rights groups and other local activists also have planned a number of positive events to counter ACT’s hate.

Hatewatch will be running a constantly updated live-blog below, monitoring and reporting on the rallies taking place in 19 states. The proceedings will also be documented on Hatewatch’s Twitter account where we will be using the hashtag #counterACThate.

Writing on Twitter, the ex-CEO of the social media platform took a shot at President Donald Trump on Friday night, saying that meeting with the president is like voluntarily “waterboarding yourself.”

Dick Costolo was responding to news reported by Buzzfeed that Trump will meet once again with entrepreneurs and venture capitalists on emerging technology.

According to Buzzfeed, the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) is organizing the event, scheduled for June 22, and invitees include Apple CEO Tim Cook, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Oracle co-CEO Safra Catzn among others.

Noting the meeting, Costolo quipped, “If you don’t get invited to this meeting and want to know what it was like, just drink a bottle of gin and then waterboard yourself.”

These Drawings By Children Are Allowing Them To Express How They Feel About Trump

Source: BuzzFeed News

A workshop called Illustrated Stories of Immigration was set at Mighty Writers in Philadelphia for children of Mexican immigrants to come and share their family's story. The workshop was created by Nora Litz, a Mexican-American artist, to help her students talk about immigration and their feelings.

It was mainly aimed at children with parents that came into the U.S. illegaly since after talking to them she realized how scared they were. "I felt I had to do something" said Litz to NPR.

During the seven week long workshop children from ages 7 to 15 illustrated different aspects from an immigrant's life. The drawings included things like the wall that President Trump mentions constantly to ICE coming to take away family members.

Exclusive: Trump targets illegal immigrants who were given reprieves from deportation by Obama

Source: Reuters

In September 2014, Gilberto Velasquez, a 38-year-old house painter from El Salvador, received life-changing news: The U.S. government had decided to shelve its deportation action against him.

The move was part of a policy change initiated by then-President Barack Obama in 2011 to pull back from deporting immigrants who had formed deep ties in the United States and whom the government considered no threat to public safety. Instead, the administration would prioritize illegal immigrants who had committed serious crimes.

Last month, things changed again for the painter, who has lived in the United States illegally since 2005 and has a U.S.-born child. He received news that the government wanted to put his deportation case back on the court calendar, citing another shift in priorities, this time by President Donald Trump.

The Trump administration has moved to reopen the cases of hundreds of illegal immigrants who, like Velasquez, had been given a reprieve from deportation, according to government data and court documents reviewed by Reuters and interviews with immigration lawyers.

Fox News Was Attacking Barack Obama for Using Dijon Mustard at This Point in His Presidency

Source: Newsweek

Donald Trump isn’t the only president to have faced harsh criticisms just months into office. At this point in former President Barack Obama's tenure as the leader of the free world, right-wing news outlets were condemning his use of Dijon mustard as a condiment. Yes, really.

In news from eight years ago that appears to be from some alternate reality, Obama left the White House and went out for a local bite to eat with vice president and BFF Joe Biden in May. The two politicians ordered hamburgers, MSNBC journalist Andrea Mitchell reported at the time, with the sitting president requesting mustard on his red meat.

The story was featured on Sean Hannity's show, Hannity's America, as a screen showed a photoshopped image of Obama surrounded by bottles of mustard with the words "PRESIDENT POUPON" plastered on a red and white banner.

Let that soak in for a minute. Trump tweeted his support for Fox News Friday, commending them for the network’s morning show Fox And Friends' "great reporting" job on ex-FBI Director James Comey’s Thursday testimony. The network’s rejection of Obama's taste palette compared to its incredible support of the embattled Trump White House was seen by Twitter users as shocking at best, and propagandistic at worst.

See the Quietly Lovely Norwegian Ad That Got 120 Million Views in a Week

We’ve heard it takes a village to raise a child, and a heartwarming spot is using that adage to find foster families in Norway.

“The Lunchbox” opens on a familiar scene of schoolchildren eating lunch. But one boy’s lunchbox is empty, so he kills time by wandering the halls and stopping at the water fountain before heading back to his classroom.

...

The spot by ad agency Kitchen in Oslo, Norway—a joint venture of Leo Burnett and Publicis—is beautiful and simple, and part of a larger campaign for the Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs.

Aimed at recruiting more Norwegian foster homes, the ad portrays the power of community. And it’s certainly getting its share of attention—to the tune of almost 120 million Facebook views in the seven days since its release.

Record number of women elected to British Parliament

Source: CNN

London (CNN)It's official -- Britain will have more women members of Parliament than ever before.

On a dramatic night that shook the political establishment to its core and forced Prime Minister Theresa May to place her Conservative Party into a coalition with Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party, some 207 female lawmakers were elected to the House of Commons.

With one seat yet to be declared, that number already surpasses the 196 elected in the 2015 vote and subsequent by-elections.

One of the biggest surprises came in Canterbury, Kent, where Rosie Duffield clinched the seat for Labour for the first time since 1918.
