A Santa Monica doctor who touted a controversial menopause therapy on the Oprah Winfrey Network and received testimonials for her work from such celebrity patients as model Cindy Crawford and actress-author Suzanne Somers has been disciplined by California’s medical board for gross negligence.

In a settlement approved last month, the Medical Board of California put Dr. Prudence Hall on probation for four years, faulting her for being “unaware” of potential risks posed by the plant-based hormones — including cancer — and failing to monitor her patients properly.

Hall used numerous hormones to treat two women, according to the board, missing an aggressive uterine cancer in one patient and treating the other based on an “incorrect diagnosis in a manner such that [Hall] stood to gain financially.”

“My jaw was on the floor. This is just egregious,” said Dr. Jen Gunter, a San Francisco Bay Area OB-GYN who reviewed the medical board’s report. “You hear about all these self-described functional medicine doctors providing these treatments. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be in this ballpark.”

Bob Woodward shared more details from an episode between President Donald Trump and his former lawyer John Dowd, in which Dowd pulls no punches in telling Trump why he can’t sit down with Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

According to Woodward’s book “Fear,” Dowd told Trump that he’d be “fitted for an orange jumpsuit” if he testified.

“Trump goes ballistic, makes things up, starts screaming- Dowd thought had he been Mueller, he would have been fired right on the spot,” Woodward told late night host Stephen Colbert on Monday. “‘You can’t testify. You- you are disabled.’ I mean, imagine the lawyer- your lawyer, telling you you’re disabled. ‘And you can’t testify because you can’t tell the truth. You just make things up!’”

As Woodward writes to end the book: “Dowd knew he couldn’t bring himself to say to the President, ‘You’re a fucking liar.’”

Tucker Carlson's 8 p.m. show on Fox News is the third most popular cable news show in the country, and he's quickly made use of his rising popularity to turn white nationalist narratives into prime-time stories. Carlson's brand has drawn a following of notable white supremacists, anti-Semites, and misogynists, making him a media figurehead among the “alt-right.”

His show has also grabbed the attention of the president. In August, President Donald Trump responded to a fearmongering Carlson segment on “white oppression” in South Africa, stating that he had ordered Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to investigate the issue.

Bill Schuette knows that the race for governor is ramping up, which means that now is the time for low-blow campaign tactics ahead of the November election.

In his latest attack ad against Democratic candidate Gretchen Whitmer, the Republican candidate's rhetoric positions Whitmer-Gilchrist as being the "Most left-wing ticket in Michigan history."

Dripping in propaganda, the ad continues to use inflammatory words to appeal to potential right-wing voters. However, perhaps the most unsettling piece of the attack ad is the context from which the images of Whitmer are pulled from.

The grim-faced Whitmer is in stark contrast to the typical images of the smiling, bright features of the Democratic candidate. And for good reason. The frowning photo of Whitmer comes from her address to the Michigan Senate in 2013 when she shared personal details of her sexual assault survival story in response to the "rape insurance" bill.

A last-minute mailer from Democrats wrongly describing Cynthia Nixon as anti-Semitic is a disgrace.

This is dirty politics, nearly as sleazy as it gets.

Days before Mr. Cuomo’s primary race for re-election on Thursday, the New York State Democratic Committee has sent voters a campaign mailer falsely accusing his challenger, Cynthia Nixon, of being “silent on the rise of anti-Semitism.”

It says she supports the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement against Israel over its treatment of Palestinians. She does not. It accuses Ms. Nixon of opposing funding yeshivas, private religious schools attended by many of the city’s Orthodox Jews. She has never said that.

“With anti-Semitism and bigotry on the rise, we can’t take a chance,” the mailer reads. “Re-Elect Governor Andrew Cuomo.”

This is the lowest form of politics, and the most dangerous, exploiting the festering wounds and fears along ethnic and religious lines.
