Mark Meadows considers new White House press secretary

Source: Axios

White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows has privately discussed bringing on Pentagon spokesperson Alyssa Farah or Trump campaign spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany as a new White House press secretary, two sources familiar with the talks tell Axios.

Why it matters: Meadows' start on Tuesday as Trump's new chief presents a chance to overhaul a press shop that's kept a low profile since President Trump ended the tradition of daily press secretary briefings.

Stephanie Grisham, who's held the post of White House press secretary and communications director since last July, has never held a formal daily briefing — a regular practice that ended under her predecessor Sarah Sanders.

It's not clear whether Meadows intends to replace Grisham or to bring in a press secretary to supplement her communications director role — and whether he intends to resume regular briefings on topics beyond the coronavirus.

Some of the ventilators the US bought as part of Putin's humanitarian aid package are from a company

Some of the ventilators the US bought as part of Putin's humanitarian aid package are from a company under US sanctions, RBC reports.

That would make an enormous troll of the US, wrapped inside a massive PR coup for the Kremlin

'That woman from Michigan' shirt is hot seller for Farmington Hills business owner

To Amanda Burden, “the woman in Michigan” goes beyond the words Donald Trump used to attack Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

“I think it's also something about women just kind of taking back their power,” the Farmington Hills resident said by phone Tuesday. “It’s like, yeah, I am that woman from Michigan – whether you know my name or not, I'm still going to be fighting for the people of my state.”

And she has the shirt to prove it.

Trump campaign tells surrogates to paint Biden as 'the opposition' in coronavirus war

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump's re-election campaign urged surrogates in a call Wednesday to capitalize on the coronavirus pandemic to attack his rival Joe Biden and other Democrats as "the opposition" in Trump's war against the outbreak, according to a person who participated in the call.

"This is the bottom line: President Trump is leading the nation in this war against the coronavirus, and Joe Biden, the Democrats and the media have decided to be the opposition in that war," Tim Murtaugh, the campaign's director of communications, said in a phone conversation with surrogates, according to the source.

Campaigning ahead of the November election has ground to a halt as the nation grapples with a pandemic that the White House estimates could kill more than 100,000 Americans in the coming weeks. The call with Trump's campaign officials provides an insight into how the campaign continues to operate in the background.

Other officials on the call, including campaign manager Brad Parscale and senior adviser Lara Trump, the president's daughter-in-law, pointed to the increase in the number of Americans watching the news and encouraged surrogates to capitalize on the attention not to bolster Trump's handling of the pandemic but to attack Biden.
