Oxford Community Schools decline Michigan AG's offer to launch investigation into shooting

OXFORD, Mich. – Oxford Community Schools have declined Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s offer to conduct a third-party review of the shooting that left four students dead and injured four other people.

Nessel has made it clear that her team was ready and willing to step in and conduct a full comprehensive investigation of the events leading up to the shooting.

Part of the investigation would be into if any policies or protocol were not followed and would go further than the investigation conducted by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Despite the district declining her officer to investigate, her team will work to ensure that students in Oxford and across the state “receive the protection they deserve and that guns are kept out of our schools.”

“I am extremely disappointed that the school district chose to decline my offer to devote the full resources of the Department of Attorney General to review the events leading up to and on Nov. 30. This tragedy demands a united effort from all of us who serve the Oxford community.”

Parents knowingly sent their child to school after they tested positive for Covid-19.

One family's decision to send their child to school after testing positive for Covid-19 resulted in dozens of canceled Thanksgiving plans for other classmates, according to a California school district.

Parents of one elementary student knew their child tested positive for the virus but continued to send them to school for seven days, Dr. Brett Geithman, superintendent of Larkspur-Corte Madera School District in Marin County, told CNN.

The student attends Neil Cummins Elementary School in Corte Madera, about 30 minutes north of San Francisco.

The parents' actions resulted in around 75 classmates being forced to quarantine starting November 19.

Geithman told CNN school officials were only made known of the positive case after Marin County Public Health contacted them, because it was never reported in the school's database.

Mom of four dies of COVID after emergency C-section, Wisconsin family says

Soon after a 38-year-old Wisconsin mom underwent an emergency C-section, she died of COVID-19, her family says.

“It was gut-wrenching,” her ex-husband, David Henderson, told WDJT. Adrienne Chandler had three children with Henderson prior to giving birth to her fourth baby with boyfriend Ryan Emperley.

“We had our problems living together since we divorced earlier this year but both of our undying love for our children was absolute,” Henderson shared to Facebook on Dec. 1. “I never in a million years expected to be telling our kids yesterday that their mother died and I can’t imagine a pain like that in my life.

“I expected to be jointly raising these kids long into adulthood and both of us using our life experiences to guide them along this crazy ride of life we have.”

Chandler and Emperley’s newborn baby, Roman, is doing well, according to WISN, and Emperley hopes Roman will grow up to be like his mother.

“She has a beautiful soul and my heart will always belong to her,” Emperley told WDJT. “She had a smile that would light a room and bring the absolute joy to everyone’s life.”

Missouri second-grader brought his parents' loaded gun to school to show off to classmates

ST. LOUIS — A second-grader at Pamoja Preparatory Academy in the St. Louis Public Schools system brought a loaded gun to school Monday, school and police officials said.

A spokesman for the school district said a teacher saw the student showing the gun off during recess and took action. Officers with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and school district security officers were called to the school on Enright Avenue and confiscated the weapon without incident.

A police spokesperson said the student found the gun in a lockbox under his parent's bed and wanted to show it off. Police said they do not intend to seek charges due to the nature of the incident.

A statement from the school district reminded parents to check on any weapons in the home and secure them out of the reach of children.

"The safety and security of our children and staff are top priorities in our District and, it must always be our shared responsibility as a school community," the statement said.

Oakland County man who let Crumbleys stay inside building meeting with police Monday

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - Officers from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office plan to meet with a local man who has identified himself as the figure in connection to the location where Ethan Crumbley's parents were found on Nov. 4.

Andrzej Sikora, 65, of Oakland County, will be interviewed by detectives Monday, a release from police said. Currently, he has not been charged with a crime.

"We will vigorously investigate the totality of the situation so a determination can be made if there is any criminality or obstruction of justice involved," Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. "Our findings will be presented to the prosecutor."

According to Attorney Clarence Dass, Sikora - an immigrant and Detroit-based artist - contacted the authorities after the couple's arrest. Dass also said he had no knowledge the Crumbleys would likely be facing charges when they came to his studio.

"Andrzej Sikora is very concerned that he's even roped into this, but I do believe when all the evidence has panned out and all the facts are sorted through, there's not going to be evidence that he knowingly aided and abetted or harbored a fugitive," said Dass. "In fact, he was not in the loop."
