Man Wanted for Yelling Anti-Asian Slurs, Spitting at Mom and 3 Kids on Subway: NYPD

Police released images on Saturday of a man wanted in New York City for allegedly yelling anti-Asian slurs and spitting at a mother and her three children on a subway in Times Square on Tuesday.

The incident, under investigation as a hate crime, happened aboard a southbound 5 train around 2:30 p.m. as the train was heading toward the 42nd Street-Times Square station, according to police.

Police said the man began yelling anti-Asian slurs at the 44-year-old woman and her three children and then spat in her direction.

Then the man knocked the woman's phone out of her hand and kicked it through the back door of the subway and onto the tracks while the train was still in motion, police said.

Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis apologizes for tweeting anti-Asian slur

ampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis apologized on Twitter on Sunday night after he sent a tweet using an anti-Asian slur.

“Gotta stop letting g**** in Miami,” Davis tweeted.

e apologized later, claiming he was speaking about a specific producer in Miami and cited an Urban Dictionary definition of the word that claims it has a different meaning in South Florida specifically. That definition, however, is underneath the top definition that clearly labels the word as derogatory against Asian people.

“I used a term that from where I come from has always meant “lame” but I did not realize it has a much darker, negative connotation,” he tweeted, in part. “I have learned a valuable lesson and want to apologize to anyone that was offended by seeing that word because we need to focus on helping each other during these tough times.”

Representative Matt Gaetz Used to 'Score' His Sexual Conquests at Work

Gaetz is reportedly the subject of a federal investigation into whether he and another Florida political figure provided cash or others things of value to women they had sex with after connecting with them on the website “Seeking Arrangements,” according to the New York Times. The DOJ is also looking into whether multiple “encounters” Gaetz allegedly had with a 17-year-old girl two years ago violated sex-trafficking statues. In response to reports, Gaetz made bizarre claims that he was the subject of an extortion plot, and that the Justice Department was “trying to criminalize my sexual conduct, you know, when I was a single guy.”

Now the creepy floodgates have opened, and reports of all kinds of piggish and wildly inappropriate misconduct are pouring in. The latest is right out of a raunchy teen comedy — per ABC, “sources said Gaetz was part of a group of young male lawmakers who created a ‘game’ to score their female sexual conquests, which granted ‘points’ for various targets such as interns, staffers or other female colleagues in the state House.” It gets even worse: “One of the targets of the scoring system was a group the lawmakers had heard were ‘virgins.’”

The scoring system by male Florida lawmakers was previously reported by the Miami Herald. State Senator Debbie Mayfield told the Herald in 2017 that during her freshman year as a House member, “a group of freshmen male legislators lived together and ran their rented session home ‘like a frat house.’” The men reportedly “created a scoring system to rank female legislators and lobbyists … One of them was asked what he wanted to do in Tallahassee, and his answer was ‘to sleep with as many women as possible,’” according to Mayfield.

Gaetz did not respond to the ABC report.

Neighbor's racist rant against Chinese family caught on camera in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- A San Jose couple is trying to raise awareness after a hate incident occurred right on their front porch.

Huang Zhu and Ying Huang say about two weeks ago their twin 6-year-olds heard a lot of knocking and doorbell ringing and thought the UPS driver was at their door.

Thankfully they didn't open the door because it was a man, yelling racist comments and saying things like, "You brought COVID-19."

In one clip the man says, "I said it's your neighbor, open the door! You... Communist China! Open the door right now! Communist China! You f**king Commies! This is America! It's not f**king (inaudible)."

What one son said was heartbreaking.

"He asked me, 'Mommy, did I do this because I watch too much iPad and he's here to punish me?' I didn't know what to say. I said 'you did nothing wrong, we did absolutely nothing wrong,'" says his mother.

Biden Effort to Combat Hunger Marks 'a Profound Change'

WASHINGTON — With more than one in 10 households reporting that they lack enough to eat, the Biden administration is accelerating a vast campaign of hunger relief that will temporarily increase assistance by tens of billions of dollars and set the stage for what officials envision as lasting expansions of aid.

The effort to rush more food assistance to more people is notable both for the scale of its ambition and the variety of its legislative and administrative actions. The campaign has increased food stamps by more than $1 billion a month, provided needy children a dollar a day for snacks, expanded a produce allowance for pregnant women and children, and authorized the largest children’s summer feeding program in history.

“We haven’t seen an expansion of food assistance of this magnitude since the founding of the modern food stamp program in 1977,” said James P. Ziliak, an economist at the University of Kentucky who studies nutrition programs. “It’s a profound change.”

While dollars and decisions are flowing from the Agriculture Department, the tone has been set by President Biden, who issued an executive order in January telling aides to “address the growing hunger crisis” and later lamented the car lines “half a mile each, just to get a box of food.”

Surveillance camera captures man blowtorching East Bay Chinese restaurant

ANTIOCH, Calif. (KGO) -- Owners of a Chinese restaurant in the East Bay are trying to raise awareness, and spread the warning to be vigilant, after their building was blowtorched for nearly half an hour.

Surveillance video from late Wednesday night shows a man drive up to one of the entrances to the restaurant, get out of the car, ignite a blowtorch an prop it against a door.

A family member spoke with ABC7 News anchor Dion Lim, and says the family doesn't want to reveal the name of the business, especially after it was broken into four times in the past year.

The woman said in an Instagram post that she was, "Livid, irritated, heartbroken, terrified and so many other negative emotions," and said it had been an emotional time for the family.

The family says they've owned the restaurant for more than 20 years and while they can't say for certain if this was a hate-motivated incident, they believe with the recent uptick in reporting on attacks against Asians, it could very well be.

The 2020 Trump campaign accounted for up to 3% of all credit card fraud claims in the entire country

Stacy Blatt was in hospice care last September listening to Rush Limbaugh’s dire warnings about how badly Donald J. Trump’s campaign needed money when he went online and chipped in everything he could: $500.

It was a big sum for a 63-year-old battling cancer and living in Kansas City on less than $1,000 per month. But that single contribution — federal records show it was his first ever — quickly multiplied. Another $500 was withdrawn the next day, then $500 the next week and every week through mid-October, without his knowledge — until Mr. Blatt’s bank account had been depleted and frozen. When his utility and rent payments bounced, he called his brother, Russell, for help.

What the Blatts soon discovered was $3,000 in withdrawals by the Trump campaign in less than 30 days. They called their bank and said they thought they were victims of fraud.

“It felt,” Russell said, “like it was a scam.”

'Black Widow' Movie Release Plan Is Upsetting Theater Chains

Walt Disney Co.'s decision to release Black Widow simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ has caused some major tension between the House of Mouse and movie theater chains across the United States.

Worried about surviving in a post-pandemic world, a group of theater owners is reportedly considering ways to push back at Disney, sources tell The Wall Street Journal. "We haven't made any threats," AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. Chief Executive Adam Aron revealed to the publication. He added, however, that "it is widely known that AMC has threatened not to play movies if we could not find business terms that we found acceptable."

While Disney declined to comment about its current relationship with theater chains, the company said in the announcement about Black Widow's release that it was happy to provide consumers with more to safely see the film.

Tensions between Disney and theaters across North American appeared to reach a boiling point following the announcement that Raya and the Last Dragon would be released in both theaters and on the Disney+ streaming platform in March.
