Report: Dem chairwoman Wasserman Schultz won't speak at convention

NOTE: I'm trying to dispel as much misinformation as I can.

The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee will not speak at this week’s convention in Philadelphia, according to CNN.

The decision to keep Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz from speaking — though CNN reports she will appear to gavel the convention's opening and close— follows a dump of emails by WIkileaks from top officials at the DNC that seem to show some top employees were conspiring to hurt the candidacy of Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton's main rival for the Democratic nomination during the primary campaign.

One email in particular showed a top aide asking if Sanders’ religion could be questioned in an attempt to hurt him with southern voters. Another showed Wasserman Schultz calling Sanders’ campaign manager “a damn liar.”

Sanders has long maintained that the DNC was favoring Clinton and has called on Wasserman Schultz to resign and on CNN Sunday he echoed that statement, calling the emails "outrageous" but unsurprising.

Here's the issue I have the media coverage of the emails.

This story first broke yesterday but was largely ignored because of the Kaine appointment. So, what did they do? Put the story in the 'Sunday Bin" and use it to fill up their day?

Brazile apologized to Sanders campaign in meeting: 'This stupidity needs to be addressed'

ebbie Wassermann Schultz announced her resignation as DNC chairwoman today, and it’s setting up the Democratic Convention in Philadelphia up for a rough start this week. DNC Vice Chair Donna Brazile totally called it this morning when she opined that heads would roll over the email troubles currently plaguing the Democrats.

Brazile is a regular contributer on CNN and ABC News, and shortly after Wassermann Schutlz’s resignation broke, her role at the week’s convention was established thanks to this tweet from the DNC’s communications director.

This also comes after the news that Wassermann Schutlz’s role at the convention would be greatly diminished.

Before all of this, however, Brazile appeared on Sunday’s This Week, and addressed how leaks of committee efforts to undermine Bernie Sanders have left him and his supporters infuriated.

“I went over yesterday to see the Sanders campaign [and] I apologized,” Brazile said. “I think, the allegations, the e-mails, the insensitivity, the stupidity needs to be addressed.”

Brazile acknowledged that the DNC’s email leak is an ongoing matter that will likely have repercussions for the committee for the foreseeable future. Brazile didn’t seem to appreciate Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook‘s take on the day’s events, but she went on to say that more officials will probably have to pay up for letting the Democratic Party bleed.

“Will some people have to step down, be removed and resign? I’m sure at the end of the day, yes.”

Marcia Fudge to serve as Convention Chair

Rep. Marcia Fudge of Ohio will serve as convention chairwoman as ratified by the convention's Rules Committee on Saturday night. Wasserman Schultz was the temporary chair of the convention until the Rules Committee approved Fudge.

DNC Vice Chairwoman Donna Brazile will serve as interim chair through the election, it was announced Sunday. Brazile, who has been a CNN and ABC commentator, served in the party role on an interim basis in the spring of 2011.

1996 Convention: Dick Morris resigned after getting caught with a prostitute

We survived that and we'll survive the email flap.

One more importantl point about Donna

And it's important enough for a seperate thread. Donna Brazile voted at the DNC to disallow the Michigan and Florida primary results in 2008 that would have put Hillary over the top. So she is nobody's stooge.

Donna Brazile

Ran Al Gore's ground operation in 2000 and was, in my opinion, the one responsible for Gore's rightful victory.

Michael Keaton Confirmed for 'Spider Man: Homecoming'.

In preparation of Marvel Studios Hall H panel, there were whispers that something related to Spider-Man: Homecoming would get released. The complicated deal with Sony made us unsure if Marvel could do this, with even the first logo coming at a Sony event. For those lucky enough to be in Hall H tonight, they got to see the first bits of footage from the film. Short descriptive tweets have been posted by a variety of attendees, but the trailer ended by confirming that as previously reported, Vulture, played by Michael Keaton, is the villain for the movie.

As is the case with SDCC, Marvel is not planning to release any of this footage online and brought in extra security to ensure it does not leak. That is not to say it still can’t but do not be expecting to see this, probably ever. Still, sounds pretty good and now we can safely say who the villain is. Stay tuned for more updates from SDCC!

CONFIRMED: Brie Larson Is Captain Marvel

Ever since Marvel Studios head-honcho Kevin Feige confirmed that the studio would be bringing Captain Marvel to life, fans have been eagerly awaiting casting news, curious who the studio would choose to portray Carol Danvers. There have been plenty of names tossed around – most notably, Emily Blunt – but the first real casting rumor surrounding the role only happened recently when Variety announced that Oscar winner Brie Larson was the front-runner for role, and that she was in talks with the studio. Since then, however, things have been rather quiet – until today, that is. It’s now official. Larson is, in fact, our Captain Marvel.

Brie Lerson introduced as the newest member of the Marvel family, CAPTAIN MARVEL. Crowd goes wild.

It was just announced today during Marvel’s Hall H panel that the actress has officially signed on for the role. For some, this casting may be a bit disappointing, especially given that Blunt had been rumored for the role for quite some time. However, Larson is a fantastic choice. Even though she’s built quite an impressive resume, it wasn’t until she landed an Oscar for her stellar performance in Room that the actress began to receive the acclaim she has long deserved. What’s most exciting about this choice is that Larson isn’t a safe choice like Blunt – who I was all for previously – would have been. Blunt was the expected choice, Larson is more of a left-field choice since she’d never actually been rumored for the role outside of fan suggestions. (Although, to be fair, once she won her Oscar, many speculated she’d be the actress Marvel would go for due to her rising status.)
