Juror: I'm Too Racist And Homophobic To Serve On Jury

A British man who said his "extreme homophobic and racist views" should make him ineligible for jury duty now faces prosecution over the claim.
The Daily Echo reports that the man's identity is being kept anonymous for now but that Judge Gary Burrell QC read the leader in open court. In the letter, the man writes:
"I strongly believe that it would be a serious injustice to the legal system to select me for jury service.

Paul Ryan, Certified Lyin' King

Mitt Romney pollster Neil Newhouse recently said that the Romney campaign is “not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact checkers.” If the past few weeks are any indication, Paul Ryan is sticking pretty close to that strategy. Here are his most recent lies, going back to his universally fact-checked Republican National Convention speech. Come back: We’ll update throughout the rest of the campaign.

10. “I voted for the Budget Control Act. But the Obama Administration proposed $478 billion in defense cuts. We don’t agree with that, our budget rejected that, and then on top of that is another $500 billion in defense cuts in the sequester.” Truth: Ryan has been doing back flips to explain why he has been criticizing the Democrats for the $600 million “sequestration” cuts that will automatically go into effect if there’s no budget compromise by December. Ryan, in fact, voted for those cuts. The sequestration cuts, along with $487 million in other defense cuts, were both a part of the Budget Control Act. (September 9, 2012)

Can someone here explain how Elizabeth Warren is polling behind Scott Brown?

Isn't Massachusetts supposedly a deep-blue state? I'm baffled about how Obama is the clear favorite over Romney there by double-digits, yet Warren has been polling behind Brown.

Republicans See California Comeback

TAMPA, Fla. – California Republicans resolved to keep their focus on November’s election and the future of the state party Monday, Aug. 27, as Tropical Storm Isaac churned into the Gulf of Mexico, threatening to steal thunder from the GOP’s national convention.
Most of the day’s planned events were scuttled due to the storm, and organizers consolidated the program into just three days. But with Republicans intent on generating as much momentum as possible from the convention, California’s political leaders and delegates pushed forward with a morning rally at a beach side resort about 30 miles outside of Tampa.
At the event, hundreds of the state’s delegates, alternates and guests – including dozens from Riverside and San Bernardino counties – cheered as GOP leaders shifted focus from the national ticket to California, promising a new day for a state in which Republicans don't hold a single statewide office.

If Republicans hate gov't so much, why do they desperately want to run ours?

Ever since Ronald Reagan's pronouncement that "Government is the Problem", Republicans have been running against the government, and at the same time, they desperately want to run, or own the government.

I'd like to explore this dichotomy, and try to analyze why it exists, and try to determine if the Republican behavior matches their rhetoric. I suspect it won't, but will provide my argument and you can decide for yourself.
