I died twice laughing watching this

Witness Viktor Shokin:

Holds doc’s proving money laundering by Burisma & Biden’s.

Fired due to VP Biden’s threat not to release $1B in vital US aid.

Shokin’s med records show he was poisoned, died twice, and was revived.

Lots of heads will roll in Ukraine if this opens up.

GOP lawmaker admits he didn't research ectopic pregnancy before writing backwards bill about it

Wait, a Republican legislator talked to a single lobbyist — instead of doctors or scientists — when writing legislation about a complex and emotionally fraught subject?

That can’t be.

According to the AP, Ohio state Rep. John Becker worked with a conservative anti-choice lobbyist while writing a bill that would allow insurance companies to cover the reimplantation of ectopic pregnancies — nonviable pregnancies in which a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus.

There is no procedure for reimplanting such a pregnancy, of course, but that didn’t stop Becker from imagining there could be.

The bill prohibits insurers from covering abortion services, but provides an exception for a procedure “intended to reimplant” an ectopic pregnancy in a woman's uterus.

Becker told the newspaper he never researched whether re-implanting an ectopic pregnancy into a woman's uterus was a viable medical procedure before including it in the bill. Sheets declined comment.

And there you have the modern Republican Party’s credo: “I never gave it a lot of thought.”

......................
............

Another bill that would allow for the punishment of doctors who don’t try to reimplant ectopic pregnancies was recently introduced in the Ohio Legislature. Under that bill, doctors would face potential murder charges for not doing the impossible thing. And — guess what! — that provision was based 100 percent on pseudoscience, too!

Meanwhile, the resources that Becker and Sheets were relying on to write their bill were, shall we say, a skosh outdated.

The emails show Sheets encouraged Becker to push back after a Maryland geneticist questioned the scientific journal articles he was using to defend the provision. One was from 1980 and one was from 1917.

Lawmaker Says He Didn't Research Ectopic Pregnancy Procedure Before Adding To Bill

By Associated Press • Dec 12, 2019

.........State Rep. John Becker, a southwestern Ohio Republican, got help from Barry Sheets, a lobbyist for the Right to Life Action Coalition of Ohio, as he crafted a measure that's since drawn international scrutiny for its questionable medical grounding, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported Wednesday.

Lindsey Graham invites Rudy Giuliani to Judiciary panel to discuss recent Ukraine visit

Source: politico

By BURGESS EVERETT 12/14/2019 03:32 PM EST

..............................................

In an interview airing on Face the Nation Sunday, the Senate Judiciary Committee chairman said that Giuliani, who is serving as the president’s personal attorney, could appear before his committee separately from the impending Senate impeachment trial.

“Rudy, if you want to come and tell us what you found, I'll be glad to talk to you,” Graham said. “We can look at what Rudy's got and Joe Biden, Hunter Biden and anything else you want to look at after impeachment. But if Rudy wants to come to the Judiciary Committee and testify about what he found, he's welcome to do so.”

Giuliani traveled to Ukraine earlier this month to gather information intended to discredit the House’s impeachment probe, which focuses on Trump pressuring the Ukrainian president to investigate the Bidens. Giuliani was spotted at the White House on Friday.

Graham said he didn’t know what material Giuliani had gathered. ...............................

Joe Biden might need to check his firewall.

The former vice president’s lead in South Carolina keeps shrinking in Post and Courier-Change Research polls as the 2020 Democratic presidential primary gets closer — and even after a key competitor for Palmetto State votes, U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris of California, dropped out of the race.

The latest poll released Thursday shows Biden with just a 7 percentage point lead among likely voters in the South’s first primary, the first time he has not held a double-digit advantage in seven Post and Courier-Change Research surveys taken since February..................

Latest SC 2020 poll

The Post and Courier-Change Research poll surveyed 392 likely South Carolina Democratic 2020 presidential primary voters from Dec. 6 to 11. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percent.

After uncertain filing period, Democratic U.S. Senate candidates seek to "get down to business"

Source: texastribune

A crowd of 12 Democrats are jockeying in a wide-open primary to take on Texas' senior Republican senator, John Cornyn.

by Patrick Svitek Dec. 13, 20191 hour ago

HOUSTON — As he began his closing statement at a forum here Tuesday night, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Chris Bell seemed to sum up well the mood around the long-uncertain primary.

“I thought we were going to wake up to sunshine this morning since the cloud of Beto O’Rourke had been lifted off of this race," Bell said to some knowing chuckles in the crowd, which had gathered in a Houston church on a rainy evening. "That was not to be, but in all seriousness, the filing deadline has passed, the field is set, and I think it’s time that we get down to business."

The forum, hosted by Indivisible, fell just about 24 hours after the filing period ended for the 2020 elections — and with it, the speculation that O'Rourke could make a late entry into the Senate primary following his exit from the presidential race last month. Democrats now officially have their work cut out for them as a dozen candidates — some more serious than others but no clear frontrunners — vie for the chance to face U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, despite universally low name ID and modest fundraising at best.

Well, Beto decided not to run. As they said--now the work begins. I do not know anything about their chances, other than Cornyn is powerful Repug.
