I'm flabbergasted.

Graham, Cruz et al. asked Trump's counsel: "Does a politician raising bail for rioters cause more riots?"
Counsel: "Yes".

That's the entirety of the response.

I'm bewildered because it's the Republicans that keep paying bail for the violent rioters *cough* rittenhouse *cough*. That one word answer says that "Yes, we know our actions promote further violence."

As a taxpayer, here's a question...

How much government supplied healthcare does $750 buy?

Trump sent me a letter today.

I live in Texas, in a Republican district. Today, I received an application for a mail-in ballot, unsolicited. I can't believe it's legal to send a ballot application with his face and name all over it. (especially since IMPOTUS claims that sending an application to everyone on a party neutral form is illegal, and is filing lawsuits to block it in several states).

Good ol' Texas though.

My own theory on Trump vs. Native American peoples

Trump has refused to release funds to Native American tribes to fight COVID. First Nation tribal lands are some of the worst hit areas of the country.

It finally hit me. All the blowing up on heritage sites, the selling off national parks for mining (destroying burial sites in the process), the seizing of tribal lands, cancelling tribal charters. It's revenge.

Back in the 80's and early 90's, Trump wanted to open casinos, but had to partner with a Native America tribe to do so. Every single tribe refused to partner with him. After this, he sued the Bureau of Indian Affairs in an attempt to seeking to overturn the federal law allowing "Indian gaming". Trump said that he himself “might have more Indian blood than a lot of the so-called Indians that are trying to open up reservations" (Don Imus Show). His comments were so bad John McCain ordered Trump's comments be added to the Congressional record as an example of “the kind of misinformation and misunderstanding…which have characterized discussions about Indian gaming”.

This is all revenge for them not helping him make and / or launder money back then.

Man Found Hanging From A Tree In Houston Days After Similar Instances In L.A.

Source: BET.com

A man has reportedly been found dead and hanging from a tree Monday morning (June 15) in a vacant lot in Houston’s Shady Acres neighborhood.

According to Houston Police Spokesperson Jodi Silva, the death is “believed to be a suicide,” however the official cause of death is pending until an autopsy is performed.

Silva also says the HPD could not immediately provide more information about the unidentified man because his body was found “in an advanced stage of decomposition.”

From what I've read, this is the fifth, not the third, since May 31st. New York, 2 in California (which the story mentions), Virginia, and now Houston, Texas. The story mentions that the body is in an "advanced state of decomposition". Do you honestly expect us to believe that the victim has been hanging there long enough to reach that state and no one noticed him until now?

Does anyone else think it's odd that Jo Jorgensen is popping up all of a sudden?

She's raised a grand total of $31,648 for the Presidential race per OpenSecrets.org. All of a sudden, after polls start showing Biden up by a double digit lead, I'm seeing memes spring up touting her as the perfect candidate (with disparaging and debunked claims against Biden for comparison). It may just be me, but I'm paranoid enough to remember the alternate party candidates that were discovered to be funded by the GOP in prior races.

Two just today.

Today my great aunt in New Orleans died of COVID. She was 96. She had tested positive twice, and was declared asymptomatic and not at risk. She passed between breakfast and the pre-lunch check, without ever showing a fever.

Today, a friend from photography class died of COVID. He was 21. He got hit with a fever on Friday and was admitted to the ER. We got news this morning about 9 that he didn't make it.

Today, a friend who is a nurse told me that the illness she's been at home with for the past 10 days is COVID. She's 31. She says it feels like there's a belt around her chest, and every time she breathes, it just a little tighter. The hospital has advised her not to come in until her fever is over 101. She's scared.

Yesterday, my test results finally came back after 6 days of waiting. I was negative.

I'm relieved for my own results, but I feel sick that after the elation of knowing I've been past over for now, today all this hit. And the day's not over yet.

Y'all. Take care of the ones you love. May Eir watch over us all.

Another reason businesses are for limited reopenings

A close friend of mine is a manager of a teen / tween mall jewelry store. It's cheaply made, inexpensive stuff that is in no way essential to the economy. The chain is doing a limited reopen, and having only their managers work. They'll be working 3 hours a day, five days a week. The store will be open a grand total of 15 hours a week. She's going to be making less in the store than on her unemployment.

We were talking about it (because frankly, she's scared), and it not only gets the highest paid employees off unemployment, but if the stores close back down, her new unemployment is going to be based off 15 hours a week, not 40. It's just another way for businesses to save money by screwing the workers. We talked to her about not going (because they fired everyone when they closed the first time), but they flat told her that if she doesn't come back now, she won't ever be rehired.

Is anyone else seeing this in other businesses?
