Fukushima to kick off production of green hydrogen for use in Tokyo

FUKUSHIMA – Tokyo Gov. Yoichi Masuzoe and his Fukushima counterpart, Masao Uchibori, signed an agreement Tuesday on joint research into green ways to produce hydrogen. Fuel made this way will be supplied to Tokyo by the time of the 2020 Olympics.



Hydrogen is regarded as a clean energy source as it produces no carbon dioxide when burned. However, carbon dioxide is emitted during the production process because fossil fuel is burned to provide energy. Wind and solar power will be explored as alternatives.

Speaking to reporters at the Fukushima Prefectural Office, Masuzoe said Tokyo hopes the Olympics will utilize hydrogen produced with Fukushima technology. Uchibori said it would show the world that the region has sprung back following the 2011 disaster...snip

‘Chilling’ memo details Saudi 9/11 link

A US interrogation report detailing the questioning of Saudi diplomats is drawing fresh attention to the alleged role of Saudi Arabia in 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The report, quietly released by the American National Archives over the last 18 months and described by its writers as "chilling," has drawn little public scrutiny until now.



The newly-declassified documents are hoped to help resolve the lingering mystery about what is hidden in a confidential congressional report about ties between Saudi Arabia and the 9/11 attacks.

The files detail US investigators' trip to Saudi Arabia in 2004 and their face-to-face confrontation with some of the Saudis believed to have been linked to the 9/11 hijackers on the American soil.

A key witness in the investigation has been identified as 32-year-old Fahad al-Thumairy - a former Saudi diplomat who was believed to be a ringleader of a Saudi government spy network inside the US...snip

Hydrogen Refueling Gets Boost From Norwegian Company

Norwegian company H2 Logic is poised to introduce new hydrogen refueling stations later this year. Yes, I know many of you dismiss hydrogen powered cars as a poor substitute for electric vehicles. But it behooves us to be aware of new developments in the world of transportation, even if it involves harnessing the energy of moonbeams.

Until now, hydrogen refueling stations have suffered from one important drawback. They only had the ability to satisfy the needs of a few cars at a time. The new H2 Logic stations will address that issue. Bjorn Simonsen, director of business development at NEL ASA, the parent company for H2 Logic says they will be able to service up to 5 hydrogen cars simultaneously...snip

...H2 Logic currently has 25 hydrogen refueling stations throughout Europe. The first of its new stations will open this fall with three times the refueling capacity of existing stations. It will be able to deliver 100 kg of hydrogen in three hours and 200 kg during a single day.

snip...I am a 9/11 widow. My husband Ron was killed while he was working at his desk for Fiduciary Trust Company on the 94th floor of Tower 2. Ron was 39 years old, I was 30, and our daughter was two. I watched the horror unfold on live worldwide television as I stood in my kitchen speaking to Ron. Moments later, I watched Flight 175 slice into his building, exactly where he stood on the other end of the line talking to me.

Since 9/11, my life has been spent fighting for truth, accountability, and lessons to be learned so that no other family would ever have to suffer such searing pain and tragic loss. Shamefully, my government has fought me tooth and nail along the way. Recently, it has become increasingly clear to me why my government has fought against such transparency, accountability, and revelation of the truth regarding the 9/11 attacks.

There are 28 pages of the Joint Inquiry of Congress (an investigation into the U.S. government intelligence failures prior to 9/11) that have remained classified and hidden away from the American public by both the Bush and Obama Administrations. These 28 pages allegedly prove that the Saudis had a controlling hand in funding the 9/11 attacks that killed 3,000 innocent people.



Now, it’s more than fair to say that if these 28 pages blamed the Iraqis or the Iranians for financing the 9/11 attacks, they would have been released years ago. Unfortunately, since the 28 pages allegedly implicate the Saudis, they’re likely to remain secret and kept away from the American public forever...snip

2003: 9/11 Widows Speak-Kleinberg, Breitweiser, Casazza & Van Auken

9/12/2003--Two years after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, thousands of families are still wondering what could have been done to save their loved ones. In "Unanswered Questions," NOW profiles four New Jersey widows demanding answers to questions about what our government knew before and after the terrorist attacks — and what's being done to protect us today.

Mindy Kleinberg, Kristen Breitweiser, Patty Casazza and Lori Van Auken were widowed by the September 11 terrorist attacks. The four came together as they sought answers and explanations for the tragedy. In their perseverance they helped push for the establishment of an independent commission to investigate 9/11, a request Congress fulfilled last fall.

All four women are mothers and all four lost their husbands in the World Trade Center attacks. Lorie Van Auken and Mindy Kleinberg's husbands were both as securities traders. Mindy's and Patty Casazza's husbands worked for the Cantor Fitzgerald group, which lost 658 employees. Kristen Breitweiser's husband was a vice president at Fiduciary Trust. The women all reside in New Jersey. They and others in that area touched by September 11 are featured in author Gail Sheehy's new book MIDDLETOWN, AMERICA: ONE TOWN'S PASSAGE FROM TRAUMA TO HOPE.

On Sunday, May 8, Germany hit a new high in renewable energy generation. Thanks to a sunny and windy day, at one point around 1pm the country’s solar, wind, hydro and biomass plants were supplying about 55 GW of the 63 GW being consumed, or 87%. Power prices actually went negative for several hours, meaning commercial customers were being paid to consume electricity.

Last year the average renewable mix was 33%, reports Agora Energiewende, a German clean energy think tank. New wind power coming online should push that even higher.

“We have a greater share of renewable energy every year,” said Christoph Podewils of Agora. “The power system adapted to this quite nicely. This day shows again that a system with large amounts of renewable energy works fine.”

...Germany’s power surplus on Sunday wasn’t all good news. The system is still too rigid for power suppliers and consumers to respond quickly to price signals. Though gas power plants were taken offline, nuclear and coal plants can’t be quickly shut down, so they went on running and had to pay to sell power into the grid for several hours, while industrial customers such as refineries and foundries earned money by consuming electricity.

New Green Hydrogen station opens in London marking the start of an Eco-Superhighway

The biggest gathering of super-green electric fuel-cell vehicles in Britain assembled for the opening of London's first ever hydrogen filling station on Tuesday.

Clean fuel firm ITM Power is cut the red ribbon to open the fill-up station at the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington.
