Paris Taxi Driver Tried To Kill Jewish Passenger

The original of this article (with video) is here:

http://www.maariv.co.il/news/world/Article-628435

It's in Hebrew, so I will more-or-less summarize.

An Jewish tourist visiting his brother in Paris has claimed that a taxi driver in the French capital threatened to slit his throat after realizing that he was a Jewish.

The Jewish man, Ronen Edri, took a taxi to visit his brother in Paris. The radio was very loud, so Edri asked the driver to turn down the radio so he could give him the address. The driver responded "Who are you? What do you think you are? You do not live here! you have no rights here! You are not even the owner of this vehicle!”

He said the driver then cursed at him and yelled, “I will show you what Muslims do to Jews.”

The driver made a phone call in French. Edri recorded the side of the conversation he could hear. The driver said, “this son of a whore, I’m going to cut his throat in my car.”

The taxi driver would not stop and pulled out a knife. Edri then jumped out of the car and broke his ankle.

Anti-hijab protesters defy Iranian authorities after the arrest of nearly 30 women

Anti-hijab protesters defy Iranian authorities after the arrest of nearly 30 women for not wearing headscarves

Daily Mail (UK) February 6, 2018

By: Alistair Tancred

Protests against the compulsory wearing of hijabs in Iran have continued despite the arrests earlier this week of 29 women for appearing in public without a headscarf.

Symbolic protests took place throughout the country this week with women posting videos and photographs on social media of themselves standing on utility boxes, street sidewalks and other public places as they defiantly waved their hijabs.

Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Jafar Montazeri played down the escalating protests on Wednesday, saying they were 'trivial' and 'childish' moves possibly incited by foreigners.

The defiance of the women comes as an influential Iranian activist said that disquiet over the hijab showed that women are symbolically rejecting the wider 'interference of religion' in their lives.

'We are fighting against the most visible symbol of oppression,' said Masih Alinejad, who hosts the website My Stealthy Freedom where women in Iran post photos of themselves without hijabs.

Under Iran's Islamic law, imposed after the 1979 revolution, women are obliged to cover their hair with a scarf, known as a hijab, and wear long, loose-fitting clothes. Violators are publicly admonished, fined or arrested.

'These women are saying, 'It is enough - it is the 21st century and we want to be our true selves,'' the Iranian activist told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

Iranian police said on Thursday that 29 women who took part in the campaign had been arrested in Iran for protesting against the country's compulsory hijab rules, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.

Those arrested were accused of public order offences and referred to the state prosecutor's office, Iranian media reported.

Alinejad said the protests picked up momentum after video and images were posted online of a woman waving a white scarf on a stick in December - a day before demonstrations erupted against economic conditions in eastern Iran.

Unrest quickly spread across the country and the focus broadened as protesters began calling for Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, to step down.

The video went viral as police cracked down, and Alinejad said the woman was arrested. She has since been released, according to a Facebook post by Iranian human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh.

On Monday, a woman named locally as Nargess Hosseini, was arrested after standing on an electricity box in central Tehran, waving her head scarf in front of her.

Journalist and campaigner Masih Alinejad, the founder of the White Wednesdays and My Stealthy Freedom movements, which fights the compulsory hijab in Iran, has claimed that Ms Hosseini's bail has been set at a record-high level to detain others from protesting.

'While the law imposes a maximum of $12 or two months of jail time, the court has recently asked for a bail of $125,000 to release one of the newly detained women,' Ms Alinejad tweeted Thursday.

A prominent human rights lawyer told AFP on Tuesday that one of the detained women had her bail set at more than $100,000 (80,000 euros).

lthough the wider anti-government demonstrations have ended, women across Iran are 'fed up' and continue to protest against 'the interference of religion in our personal lives', said the activist.

Alinejad said she is now flooded with videos and photos of women imitating the viral video and she shares them on the My Stealthy Freedom Twitter account and Facebook page.

'These people are not fighting against a piece of cloth, they are fighting against the ideology behind compulsory hijab,' said Alinejad, who called the movement the 'true face of feminism'.

Puerto Ricos Biggest Newspaper: The U.S. Hasnt Helped Us Because Of The Jew

The Forward
January 10, 2018
By: Jeffrey Boxer

It has been nearly three months since Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, and the island’s recovery has been slow. The U.S. territory is struggling with shortages of food and medical supplies, and a full 45% of residents still don’t have power.

San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz blames Washington for failing to devote adequate resources to Puerto Rico’s recovery — she recently dubbed President Trump the “disaster-in-chief”. But a journalist for El Nuevo Día, the newspaper with the largest circulation in Puerto Rico, has found a different culprit: “the Jew.”

Columnist Wilda Rodríguez wrote a piece on Monday, titled “What Does ‘The Jew’ Want From The Colony?” According to Rodríguez, it is “Wall Street types,” not politicians, that dictate U.S. policy. And, who are the power brokers on Wall Street?

“In the end, Congress will do what ‘the Jew’ wants, as the vulgar prototype of true power is called,” she wrote.

Rodríguez added a disclaimer: “No offense to people of that religion.” She even argued that the term is a source of pride for Israeli Jews.

“More than 20 years ago, the Israeli paper Ma’ariv had an article in Hebrew that explained how the Jews control Washington,” she wrote. “For Israelis, recognizing Jewish power over Washington is not an offensive statement. It is the victory of the Diaspora.”

What does ‘the Jew’ want? Rodriguez believes that Wall Street is punishing Puerto Ricans because of the island’s $70 billion debt. “That we could get away without paying would be fatal to Wall Street morale,” she wrote. “The punishment needs to make it clear to the debtor world that Wall Street cannot be manipulated.”

El Nuevo Día has since added an editorial note to the top of the article that apologizes to the island’s Jewish community, adding, “we do not promote content that can be interpreted as anti-Semitic.”

Muslim Citizen of Jewish State: Israel Is not an Apartheid Nation, Im Proud to Speak on Its Behalf

The Algemeiner
By: Staff
Date: 10/18/2017

“Israel is not an apartheid state and anyone who believes this should be ashamed of himself,” a Muslim citizen of the Jewish state declared in a recent media interview — a video of which has gone viral online this week.

Appearing on an Arabic-language news channel, Dema Taya — a resident of the central Israeli city of Qalansawe — told the program host, “You live in this country and enjoy the full benefits of its citizenship. You are free to work, study, express yourselves and whatever you desire. You lead and educate the next generations in a state that respects you. Look at Syria, Iraq, Egypt and the rest of the Arab countries. What have they done for the good of their people?”

Taya is currently in the US as part of a delegation conducting a speaking tour organized by Reservists on Duty to tell the stories of Israel’s minority communities.

“I’m proud to stand up and speak for Israel and that I’m an integrated part of it,” Taya said in the interview.

Islamic state claims Las Vegas shooting, says attacker recently convert to Islam

Source: Reuters

CAIRO (Reuters) - Islamic State has claimed responsibility for a shooting that killed at least 50 people and wounded over 400 in Las Vegas early on Monday, and said the attacker had converted to Islam a few months ago.

“The Las Vegas attack was carried out by a soldier of the Islamic State and he carried it out in response to calls to target states of the coalition,” the group’s news agency Amaq said in reference to the U.S.-led coalition fighting the group in the Middle East.

“The Las Vegas attacker converted to Islam a few months ago,” Amaq added.

Strikes me as a bit opportunistic on the part of ISIS. I don't see a 64 year old itinerant gambler as being a likely Islam convert.

But you never know.

The Philando Castile Verdict Was a Miscarriage of Justice

The Philando Castile Verdict Was a Miscarriage of Justice

The National Review (YES, REALLY, I'M AMAZED) By: David French

June 17, 2017

Yesterday, a Minnesota jury acquitted St. Anthony, Minnesota, police officer Jeronimo Yanez of second-degree manslaughter charges in the shooting of Philando Castile. In considering the rightness of the verdict, pay close attention to the transcript of the fatal encounter.

Here it is, via CNN:

9:05:00 p.m. — Castile’s vehicle came to a complete stop.

9:05:15 – 9:05:22 p.m. — Yanez approached Castile’s car on the driver’s side.

9:05:22 – 9:05:38 p.m. — Yanez exchanged greetings with Castile and told him of the brake light problem.

9:05:33 p.m. — St. Anthony Police Officer Joseph Kauser, who had arrived as backup, approached Castile’s car on the passenger’s side.

9:05:38 p.m. — Yanez asked for Castile’s driver’s license and proof of insurance.

9:05:48 p.m. — Castile provided Yanez with his proof of insurance card.

9:05:49 – 9:05:52 p.m. — Yanez looked at Castile’s insurance information and then tucked the card in his pocket.

9:05:52 – 9:05:55 p.m. — Castile told Yanez: “Sir, I have to tell you that I do have a firearm on me.” Before Castile completed the sentence, Yanez interrupted and replied, “Okay” and placed his right hand on the holster of his gun.

9:05:55 – 9:06:02 p.m. — Yanez said “Okay, don’t reach for it, then.” Castile responded: “I’m… I’m … [inaudible] reaching…,” before being again interrupted by Yanez, who said “Don’t pull it out.” Castile responded, “I’m not pulling it out,” and Reynolds said, “He’s not pulling it out.” Yanez screamed: “Don’t pull it out,” and pulled his gun with his right hand. Yanez fired seven shots in the direction of Castile in rapid succession.

The seventh shot was fired at 9:06:02 p.m. Kauser did not touch or remove his gun.

9:06:03 – 9:06:04 p.m. — Reynolds yelled, “You just killed my boyfriend!”

9:06:04 – 9:06:05 p.m. — Castile moaned and said, “I wasn’t reaching for it.” These were his last words.

9:06:05 – 9:06:09 p.m. — Reynolds said “He wasn’t reaching for it.” Before she completed her sentence, Yanez screamed “Don’t pull it out!” Reynolds responded. “He wasn’t.” Yanez yelled, “Don’t move! F***!” If you read carefully, you’ll note that it appears that the officer shot Castile for doing exactly what the officer told him to do.

Yanez asked for Castile’s license. Castile told him that he had a gun, and the officer – rather than asking for his carry permit, or asking where the gun was, or asking to see Castile’s hands – just says, “Don’t reach for it then.” At that point, Castile is operating under two commands. Get his license, and don’t reach for his gun.

As Castile reaches for his license (following the officer’s orders), and he assures him that he’s not reaching for the gun (also following the officer’s orders). The entire encounter, he assures Yanez that he’s following Yanez’s instructions. He died anyway.

Yes, the evidence indicates that Yanez was afraid for his life. He thought he might have been dealing with a robber (a fact he apparently didn’t tell Castile), and he testified that he smelled marijuana. But Castile was following Yanez’s commands, and It’s simply false that the mere presence of a gun makes the encounter more dangerous for the police. It all depends on who possesses the gun. If he’s a concealed-carry permit-holder, then he’s in one of the most law-abiding demographics in America.

In recent months we’ve seen a number of cases where courts have excused police for shooting citizens even after the police made mistakes — and the citizens were doing nothing wrong — simply because these citizens were exercising their Second Amendment rights. This is unacceptable, and it represents the most extreme possible deprivation of civil rights and civil liberties. I understand the inherent danger of police work. I also understand the legal responsibilities of men and women who volunteer to put on that uniform, and the legal rights of the citizens they’ve sworn to protect and serve. I’m aware of no evidence that Yanez panicked because Castile was black. But whether he panicked because of race, simply because of the gun, or because of both, he still panicked, and he should have been held accountable.

The jury’s verdict was a miscarriage of justice.

I post this mainly because I'm amazed this came from the right. But it's also well-written and well-reasoned.

Near Miss in London

Watch: Muslim carrying machetes nabbed in London
Arutz Sheva 6/6/2017 By: David Rosenberg

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/230627

(Video at Link)

Police forces nabbed a Muslim man near Newman street in London while carrying several machetes in his backpack.

Police apparently followed the man from the store where he purchased the machetes and detained him as he entered the neighborhood.

Less than a month ago, a man brandishing a meat cleaver threatened Jewish residents of the Stamford Hill neighborhood and attempted to break into a kosher food store. After employees of the store locked the door, the man entered a second kosher grocery store shouting “Where is the boss, I will kill him!”

The man then chased after two Jewish boys, aged 14 and 8, shouting “You Jews run away form here before I kill you,” JTA reported.

A little levity

Trump, as you know, was recently at the Vatican and in Jerusalem. What a lot of people don't know were some special meetings.

In his private meeting with the Pope, the Pope presented Trump with a golden telephone. "With this phone, you can talk directly to G-d," said the Pope. "But, of course, it's long distance, so keep the call short to keep expenses down."

Trump somewhat hesitantly picked up the golden phone. Sure enough, HaShem answered, and they had a nice chat.

When Trump was in Jerusalem, the chief Rabbi, presented him with a platinum phone. "Ah, I know what that is," said Trump. "A direct line from G-d! But I have to keep the call short because of the long distance charges."

The Rabbi looked at Trump bemused. "Oh, yes. This is a direct line to HaShem. But talk all you want. The call is local from here."

Teacher Removed From Classroom After Calls to Kill Some Jews Come to Light

Texas Pre-School Teacher Removed From Classroom After Twitter Calls to ‘Kill Some Jews’ Come to Light

by Lea Speyer

A pre-school teacher in Texas has been suspended from the classroom pending an investigation into her encouraging social media followers to “kill some Jews,” The Algemeiner has learned.

Nancy Salem, who teaches at The Children’s Courtyard in South Arlington, as The Algemeiner first reported, was among 24 anti-Israel activists at the University of Texas, Arlington (UTA), exposed by covert campus watchdog group Canary Mission for expressing racist and violent thoughts online.

Salem — a member of the UTA chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine and a supporter of the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement — used her now-disabled Twitter account to post such remarks as: “How many Jews died in the Holocaust? Not enough…HAHAHAHA.”

Since Canary Mission’s exposure of Salem’s social media behavior, the Children’s Courtyard’s Facebook page has been flooded with comments criticizing the institution and calling on parents to remove their children from the school.

In response, the school stated, “Our senior management team is working to address this matter. This in no way reflects the views of The Children’s Courtyard. We strive to provide an inclusive environment for all children, families and staff members. We also expect our employees to uphold standards of personal and professional conduct.”

The Algemeiner was unable to reach Salem for comment, as she has closed her social media pages and the school declined to share her contact information.

Note bene: I am not terribly familiar with the source. Assuming it is similar to the paper (which started in the 1970s), I am assuming it is a centrist/center-right Jewish site with a decidedly pro-Zionist slant. No mainstream sources appear to be talking about this. When I google, I get Pam Geller and other radicals. Long way of saying: take this with a grain of salt.

Al Qaeda to jihadis: ‘Target white Americans, avoid minorities

"Al Qaeda to jihadis: ‘Target white Americans, avoid minorities, because US mislabels attacks as ‘hate crime’"

Foreign Desk

Al Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has published a guide urging jihadis to carry out more ‘lone wolf’ operations in the U.S. following the deadly terror attack in Orlando earlier this month and to set their sights on the targeting of white Americans.

The publication, “Inspire guide: Orlando operation,” which seeks to capitalize on the terror attack carried out by gunman Omar Mateen who pledged allegiance to ISIS, plainly encourages extremists to attack Americans.

While Mateen chose to target what the guide refers to as a “homosexual nightclub,” noting that killing gay people is “the most binding duty and closer to human nature,” it suggests to “avoid targeting places and crowds where minorities are generally found in America,” because “the federal government will be the one taking full responsibility.”

This refers to the heated debates sparked in the U.S. in the aftermath of the Orlando shooting by media, law enforcement and legislators debating the roles that gun laws, hate crimes and terror each played in the incident.

Instead, the guide advises jihadis to target “areas where the Anglo-Saxon community is generally concentrated. This class of the American community is the majority and it is the one that is in the American leadership.”

The document, published specifically with a targeted message against Americans was released in addition to the group’s periodical “Inspire” magazine, which often exploits terror attacks in the West and makes threats against Europe and the United States.

Historically, Al Qaeda has relied on major plots such as the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and other U.S. targets, but now reminds its readers to move forward “in continuation” of the teachings of Al Qaeda mastermind Osama Bin Laden who advocated for ‘lone wolf’ style attacks.

As the Islamic State has gained global notoriety with its jihadis launching local attacks in the West in places such as Brussels, San Bernardino, Garland Texas and most recently in Orlando, Al Qaeda has long been attempting to play catch-up in staying relevant in competing against other jihadist groups for both recruits and funding.

“We standby and support all Muslims who attack America in their homeland regardless of their affiliation to any group or loyalty,” the guide states, justifying the targeting of American civilians with the suggestion that since they elect and pay taxes to a government with “oppressive polices against Muslims everywhere,” they are a population at “war with Islam,” and can no longer be deemed ‘civilians.’

In the guide, the Orlando attack is referred to as one of “the most successful Lone Jihad operations” and will undoubtedly “inspire others to wage similar operations.”

In conclusion the authors note that while Mateen killed and injured almost a third of attendees at the nightclub, an extremely high tally for a ‘lone wolf,’ he could have killed even more by making explosives if he followed the simple guides that appear in previous editions of the group’s “Inspire” magazine.
