Nasa tracking asteroid that could ruin Valentine's Day in 2046

Space experts predict a large asteroid could hit Earth just in time to ruin Valentine’s Day – in 2046.

The 50-metre wide asteroid, known as 2023 DW, is forecast to take more than two decades to reach us, perhaps almost three.

The European Space Agency discovered 2023 DW on 26 February and has estimated it has a one-in-607 chance of affecting Earth. The agency also predicted the asteroid could potentially hit on 14 February 2046.

WATCH: Sen. Warren Corners Fed Chair Over Interest Rate Hikes

It was a thing of beauty, as she asked him to explain the rate hikes to the million Americans who will lose their jobs as a result.

By Susie Madrak — March 9, 2023

You have to watch this! Elizabeth Warren stands up for working people, confronting the leader of the nation's central bank on continued interest rate hikes. Via Business Insider:

On Tuesday, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell testified before the Senate Banking Committee on monetary policy actions and where inflation is headed as the US continues to recover from the pandemic. While the Fed slowed interest rate hikes in February by 25 basis points — a slowdown from the prior 50 basis point increase in December — Powell indicated that hikes will continue this year as inflation remains above the 2% pre-pandemic goal.

Warren has long criticized Powell's aggressive tactics to fight inflation. She has previously argued that continuing to hike interest rates could cost Americans jobs and trigger a recession, and she honed in on that point during the Tuesday hearing.

Republican claims great jobs numbers are all because of Donald Trump

By Sarah K. Burris
Published March 09, 2023

In a House hearing on the Oversight Committee, Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI) claimed that Donald Trump saved the American economy after the COVID-19 crisis.

"President Trump's pro-growth and pro-worker, er, uh, pro-worker economy created by the tax cuts and job act and investing in American manufacturing combined with the unparalleled response to the pandemic created the fastex — fastest economic recovery in history," she told the committee.

While critics have certainly called Trump's response to the pandemic unparalleled, the U.S. lost so many jobs under Donald Trump that it set a record for the worst jobs loss by any president in the history of the United States, the Washington Post explained in 2021. Fortune even characterized Trump as worse on jobs than Herbert Hover, who was in office when the stock market crash of 1929 happened. He was the first president since Hoover to leave office having not increased the jobs in the United States. He had 3 million fewer jobs in the country.

'You hid money': Teamsters president scorches GOP senator during heated hearing

By Brad Reed
Published March 08, 2023

Teamsters President Sean O'Brien on Wednesday got into a heated discussion with Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) over the senator's history as a businessman.

During a hearing before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, Mullin accused O'Brien of sponging off workers by forcing them to pay union dues to fund his salary.

This sparked an angry exchange between the two men, with O'Brien telling Mullin he was "out of line," which prompted Mullin to tell O'Brien to "shut your mouth" as committee chairman Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) tried to call for order.
