Jeff Sharlet is a prominent expert on far-right extremism in the United States. His investigations have exposed the beliefs of the group that owned the so-called National Prayer Breakfast, the C Street group and "The Family."
Speaking to MSNBC on Tuesday, Sharlet revealed his latest project: exploring the increase in right-wing violence in the U.S.
In a recent Vanity Fair excerpt from his latest book, he describes seeing Boebert in her short Daisy Dukes and her assault rifle. "I am the militia," she told him. The subtitle of his book is "Scenes from a slow civil war."

Following the Nashville shooting, President Joe Biden renewed calls for Congress to pass a ban on semi-automatic rifles. "It's ripping our communities apart," he said of gun violence after three 9-year-old students and three staff members were shot and killed at the Covenant School in Nashville on Monday morning.
CNN's Manu Raju spoke to several Republicans about Biden's call for a ban, which didn't go down very well.
Pro-life Florida Rep. Byron Donalds thinks people are being too emotional about it. After all, it's just another school shooting where kids are murdered. Again. This marks the 129th mass shooting, but Donalds wants you to calm your ass down and let the slaughters continue.

Asa Hutchinson nears decision on 2024 presidential race

Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson plans to announce in April whether he’ll run for president, he told reporters Monday in Des Moines.
It was Hutchinson’s third trip to Iowa in 2023 and he’s hired a field organizer, indicating he’s likely to join the crowd of candidates seeking the 2024 Republican nomination. He said his events in March will help him solidify the final decisions heading into a potential presidential bid.
Hutchinson said he was looking at the visibility and finances of running a campaign in Iowa, but he said he’s not discouraged by the high-profile competition.

Trump is giving his 'violent followers' time to get organized: former FBI official

During an appearance on MSNBC, the former assistant director for counterintelligence at the F.B.I. accused Donald Trump of jumping the gun on his possible indictment so that he can get his most rabid followers time to plan and organize violent protests.
Speaking with host Alicia Melendez, Frank Figliuzzi first talked about the frightening number of death threats that have flooded the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, before touching on the former president's call to arms when he falsely announced he was going to be arrested last Tuesday.
"This is serious business here and unfortunately, it is only just begun," he told the host. "Remember, we have Trump driving the narrative a week ago today announcing he was gonna be indicted, never happened. He is running the show right now."

Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) said "both sides" were to blame after former President Donald Trump glorified Jan. 6 defendants at a rally in Waco, Texas over the weekend.
In an interview on CBS News, host Margaret Brennan pointed to Trump's Saturday rally in Waco.
"When he walked on stage, he played a recording made by some of those who are being prosecuted for attacking the Capitol on January 6th," Brennan said. "He also had footage seeming to glorify the attack that day. He's calling for protests. He said things like death and destruction if he's indicted."
"I know you've supported him in the past," she added. "Do you support statements like this?"

Well first of all Brennan should have played a clip of his fucking hero telling the entire world that he was going to walk with them up to the capital to throw out all of the electoral votes and asked him did he fear for his life.....then Brennan should have said dude, how much do you make as a Congressman saying that BS and then asked him to leave. after he said it was great to have the same guy back in Texas basically inciting more insurrection.....sounds like he supports fascism authoritarian rule...
