Obamacare Creators Tell GOP: We Told You So
"Maybe I should just say karma is a serious thing," said Neera Tanden, who was a top health official in the Obama administration. "Health care is hard. Governing is hard. And Republicans are now living with the fruits of never putting forward a plan and making promises they can't keep."
"It's healthcare, it should be easy. Everyone goes to the doctor. But it's super hard," Gruber said. "As a result, it's easy to demonize everything."
He added, "They (Republicans) have spent years trying to demonize Obamacare and say there was something better, but there was nothing better ... It's overall a sad story. I don't think anybody can feel good about this."
Republicans "now own the American health care system, which is something that they very effectively said that we owned for seven years," said Ben Wakana, a former spokesperson for Obama's Department of Health and Human Services.
"As you see this circular firing squad, part of the problem is they don't have any principles on health care," he added. "The thing that kept us grounded when things got hard was we had principles. That kept us all on the same team and in the same room."
The 2018 midterm elections are still a ways off, but Democrats say they intend to put repeal front and center.
"GOP Senate candidates will now have to defend an agenda that protects the wealthy and well-connected at the expense of Americans who actually work for a living," said Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen, who chairs the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. "Regardless of whether it gets a vote, we'll make sure there is no rock Republican Senate candidates can hide under."

Republicans' Obamacare repeal plan would cut taxes on the wealthy - By BRIAN FALER 03/06/17 09:50 PM EST
House Republicans Obamacare replacement plan would cut taxes on the wealthy by hundreds of billions of dollars.
Their long-awaited proposal, unveiled Monday evening, would among other things kill a 3.8 percent investment tax on the well-to-do that Democrats had used to help finance the health care law, as well as a 0.9 percent surcharge on wages above $250,000.
Though the legislation is focused on making good on Republican promises to repeal and replace the health program, it would likely also amount to the first big tax cut of the Trump administration, one that comes even before lawmakers tackle tax reform in earnest. The plan should make rewriting the tax code easier by moving the cost of some tax cuts into separate legislation.
Lawmakers did not immediately provide a cost estimate, but budget forecasters have previously estimated that nixing the two taxes would cost more than $300 billion over a decade.
The move would save the top 0.1 percent of earners about $195,000 annually, according to the Tax Policy Center.

McCain on Trump's wiretap claim: 'I haven't seen anything like this'
Source: Politico
Sen. John McCain on Monday demanded the release of any evidence backing up President Donald Trump's claim that President Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower in the run-up to the presidential election, blasting the White Houses refusal to answer additional questions about the matter.
McCain said the American people have a right to know on what basis the president of the United States said that his predecessor had broken the law by wiretapping Trump Tower.
I haven't seen anything like this, the Arizona Republican told reporters, explaining that the Trump administration should answer questions.
The American people should demand it, McCain continued. The dimensions of this are huge.

Juan Williams: Time for a special prosecutor
Source: The Hill
Thats why Im starting to feel like Ive seen this movie before.
Spoiler Alert: This political thriller ends with the presidents top aides striking plea bargains with federal prosecutors to reduce prison sentences.
The dwindling trust in the GOP majority in Congress to conduct such a probe is due to the fading credibility of the Senate Intelligence Committee. The problem is that the Republican chairman of that panel, Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), is widely perceived as a Trump acolyte.
If history is a guide, all that is left now is for public pressure to build on the GOP and the special prosecutor to be named.
