"The headline of our latest mid-term snapshot is that the basic dynamic remains the same: the Democrats have an excellent chance to take over the House in November, and an outside chance to do the same in the Senate.
We have new proprietary BTRTN models that calculate the odds of the Democrats taking over each branch of Congress. These odds will be updated frequently and sit atop our right hand column (as you can see). If Election Day were today and it is important to note this is not a prediction, just a snapshot of where things stand -- here are the latest odds of the Democrats taking over the House and the Senate in the 2018 mid-terms..."

BTRTN: Ohio's 12th District Special Election: Do the Dems Make Another Statement Tonight?
The BTRTN assessment of (and official prediction for) tonight's pivotal House special election in Ohio's 12th district. Plus check out the new BTRTN "odds of the Dems taking the House and Senate" chart at the top of the right hand column of the site.

"The two contenders are Republican state Senator Troy Balderson and Democrat Danny OConnor, the Franklin County Recorder. OConnor has been running surprisingly well, setting the potential for an upset reminiscent of Doug Jones (the Democratic Senator who won in Alabama) and Conor Lamb (the Democrat who won Pennsylvanias 18th District in the House). Oddly, the winner will serve only until January; the seat will be contested again in November.
This is a must win for the GOP, and, in desperation, theyve thrown everything they have at the election to support Balderson, including the endorsement of Donald Trump.
Even a close race, of course, would tell a tale, and one similar to so many special elections in 2017 and 2018. And that is the tale of the Democrats running far better than in 2016, either losing by previously-thought-to-be unthinkably close margins -- or flat out winning.
Our official BTRTN prediction is that..."

BTRTN: Unintended Consequences? Does Trump Have Any Intended Ones?
A retrospective look at the month of July, as Trump careened around the world without a decipherable game plan:

"The Helsinki press conference brought into sharp relief perhaps the central enigma about Trump: what is he trying to encompass with his unabated Putin groveling? One reason why the Putin must have something on him theory (that underlies the collusion hysteria) has such force is that no one in Trumpworld has been able to offer a sensible alternative theory that explains any of his actions. The press conference in which Trump backed Putins assessment of Russias interference in U.S. elections (none) over his own intelligence communitys unanimous assessment (yes, to the max) was a stunner. There simply was no reason why Trump could not have at least chastised Putin publicly for the interference; doubtless thats what Putin might have reasonably been expecting. And in the aftermath of outrage, in trying a rare walk back of his performance, Trump proved himself a parser on par with the master himself, Bill Clinton, in dissecting the difference between would and wouldnt as if that one syllable change tidily clarified his obsequious behavior throughout the entire press conference..."
