David Koch, the billionaire industrialist and conservative activist, has reportedly died.
Sources close to the family confirmed the 79-year-old Koch, who retired from the privately owned Koch Industries last year, passed away, according to New Yorker reporter Jane Mayer.
Koch took over as president of Koch Engineering in 1979, and became co-owner of Koch Industries four years later with his older brother, Charles Koch.
He was ranked the 11th-wealthiest person in the world upon his retirement, with an estimated net worth of $51 billion, and both he and his brother donated much of their fortune to conservative political candidates and causes.

Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) is reportedly expected to announce his candidacy for president, becoming the second prominent Republican to challenge President Trump for the party's nomination.
The New York Times reported Wednesday that Walsh, now a radio host, will announce his candidacy as early as the weekend. Walsh argued in an op-ed for the newspaper last week that the president needed a primary challenge from the right and told the Times in an interview that he would announce his intentions before Labor Day.
Walsh would join former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld (R), who announced his candidacy earlier this year, as the second Republican challenger to mount the long-shot challenge against Trump, whose approval rating among Republicans has hovered above 50 percent since he took office in 2017.
The former congressman supported Trump during the 2016 election but has hammered the president for his conduct in the years that followed. Earlier this year, he sharply criticized Trump over behavior outlined in Robert Mueller's report that detailed the results of the special counsel investigation into the Trump campaign.

The station said Epstein, 66, was found in the fetal position and had marks on his neck, citing sources close to the investigation. The station said it may have been a possible suicide attempt, quoting sources.
Last Thursday, Senior U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman in New York ordered the accused serial sexual predator to remain incarcerated at the Manhattan Correctional Center. Berman, who listened to testimony from two women who said they had been abused by Epstein as teenagers, said Epstein was a danger to young girls.

Attorney Lori Lightfoot defeated Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle in Tuesdays election, making her Chicagos first African-American female mayor, according to unofficial returns.
Lightfoot jumped out to an early lead over Preckwinkle, a longtime political power broker, and had what appeared to be an insurmountable lead.
Lightfoot, a former federal prosecutor making her first run for elected office, had 74 percent to Preckwinkles 26 percent, with 1,583 of 2,069 precincts reporting, according to unofficial vote totals.
The two candidates emerged from a record field of 14 candidates in the Feb. 26 first-round election for the chance to become Chicagos 56th mayor.
Lightfoot becomes the third African-American to serve as mayor. Harold Washington was elected in 1983 as the citys first black mayor and won re-election in 1987 before dying in officer later that year. Eugene Sawyer, the citys second black mayor, was appointed to serve out Washingtons term until a 1989 special election.

Hint about the importance of the case was in the opening paragraph, said Hughes with a screen capture of the documents.
