Top Party Official Accuses Democratic National Chairwoman of Lying and Questions Her Leadership

-snip-
R.T. Rybak, the former mayor of Minneapolis and a vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee, on Thursday accused the party’s leader, Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, of making “flat-out not true” statements about another top party officer, questioned her political skills and said he had “serious questions” about her suitability for the job.

The broadside from Mr. Rybak, which came in an interview late Thursday afternoon, followed weeks of internal party dissension over the number and timing of the presidential debates it has scheduled, capped by an acrimonious public dispute over whether Ms. Wasserman Schultz had punitively barred a Democratic vice chairwoman, Tulsi Gabbard, from the first debate, held on Tuesday in Las Vegas.

Mr. Rybak’s comments were notable because he is not known as a public complainer. But by the evening’s end, most of the other party officers issued statements strongly supporting Ms. Wasserman Schultz and calling for an end to the public rancor.

EXCLUSIVE: Democratic National Committeewoman says her party is 'clearing a path' for Hillary

because 'the women in charge' want it that way

-snip-
The Democratic National Committee is 'clearing a path' for Hillary Clinton to be its presidential nominee because its upper power echelons are populated with women, according to a female committee member who was in Las Vegas for Tuesday's primary debate.

Speaking on the condition that she isn't identified, she told Daily Mail Online that the party is in the tank for Clinton, and the women who run the organization decided it 'early on.'

The committeewoman is supporting one of Hillary's rivals for the Democratic nomination, and said she spoke freely because she believes the former Secretary of State is benefiting from unfair favoritism inside the party.

Clinton aims to be the first female to occupy the Oval Office, and 'the party's female leaders really want to make a woman the next president,' the committeewoman said, rattling off a list of the women who she said are the 'real power' in the organization.

Bernie Bits: Did Sanders Really Lose the Democratic Debate?

-snip-
Clinton's highest praise appeared to emanate from Democratic insiders who've always seen her as the heir apparent — and from Acela corridor reporters so obsessed with her campaign's purported death spiral that they were overwhelmed to find she had a pulse. In their race to set expectations, the latter seemed to forget that Clinton is a master debater who went toe-to-toe with President Obama more than two dozen times during the 2008 campaign season — and that Sanders' experience amounts to debating Peter Diamondstone.

Vermont's junior senator wasn't talking to political reporters last night. He was introducing himself to the many Americans just tuning in to the race — who don't follow politics closely and may well have never heard of the guy. There were an awful lot of them: According to Nielson, more than 15 million people watched the debate, making it the highest-rated Democratic debate in history.

Those viewers seemed to want to learn more. Data collected by Google Trends shows that Sanders' name was the one most searched throughout the debate. According to Vox, Crowdtangle found that he gained 35,000 Facebook followers during the debate, compared to the 18,000 Clinton racked up. Twitter said he scored the top moment of the event with his email quip. Notably, three focus groups — conducted by Fox News, CNN and Fusion — agreed that Sanders prevailed.
