If alcoholism is a disease as proclaimed by the AMA, why should the diseased

be jailed instead of treated?

I once stopped a diabetic from driving during a bad time for her and the police quickly came to assistance and got her post haste to a hospital. If it were an alcoholic driving as badly they would have been taken quickly to a jail sans any medical attention as might be needed.

It's very popular now to damn anyone who is guilty of a legal infraction while under the influence of alcohol while those with family members who are alcoholic or are alcoholic are shown sentences and punishments that often exceed that of murder or manslaughter. That's just for getting caught with liquor on your breath.

Everybody needs a scapegoat I guess.

Bad things happen. Our reactions in assigning blame don't.

I know this is a terribly unpopular opinion but these are questions to be asked and considered. Please don't damn me for asking them as the plight of those who suffer from the disease of alcoholism seems to be ignored in today's clime.

Just In: Felon Enraged Over Obama’s Gun Reforms Shoots Up Apartment Building

Whenever the right-wing media echo chamber and political hype machine gets hysterically overworked about an issue, violence tends to follow. Take for instance, when they all lost their collective minds over the fake and roundly debunked Planned Parenthood videos; arsons at health clinics and a mass shooting quickly followed.

So unfortunately it is no surprise that violence has followed the right-wing’s collective freak out over President Obama’s reasonable and much-needed expansion of background checks for firearm purchases. A still unnamed man in Redding, California living in an apartment complex began randomly shooting at people. Witnesses said that the man was ranting and screaming about President Obama’s gun actions, running inside and outside apartments, firing indiscriminately.

“We heard the five shots — everyone was screaming,” said resident David Rice. “He came out screaming ‘Obama! Obama! Obama!’ (Police) told him to come out with (his) hands up, and he kept telling them ‘No, no, no.’”

As if the racial disparities in police response couldn’t be any clearer in this nation, law enforcement responders fired non-lethal beanbags at an active white shooter, while twelve-year-old Tamir Rice was instantly gunned down. They then allowed this man to enter and exit his apartment, which had a letter from the NRA taped to the window, ten times with his weapon drawn before an officer finally shot him dead.

I want to declare plans for a liberal takeover of Alabama.

Bring comfort foods, Jack Daniels and pot.

Might also want to bring copies of Steel Magnolias as well. Dress in anything from blue jeans to suits and plan for a six month stand off.

Hit the first house you see and tell them you're a cousin from Mississippi or TN and Grammy just passed.

Start off with things like books and movies by John Grisham and William Faulkner who confuses a lot of folks down here that while being famous Southerners, they propose liberal ideals.

Guessing after a few months, light will begin to be seen. This is written by an Alabamian tongue in cheek and not meant to offend anyone...

But PLEASE, GOD! Someone take Roy Moore away or at least get him stoned.

WATCH: Kentucky man shouts ‘punk a** n****r’ at black judge — and gets slapped with 60 days in jail

Wow!

Kentucky man is spending 60 days in jail after he used a racial epithet in front of a black judge on Monday.

In courtroom video obtained by WDRB, Jefferson Circuit Court Judge Olu Stevens is seen revoking Adam Satterly’s bond on drug charges.

“Punk ass n*gger!” Satterly shouts as he turns to walk out of court.

Moments later, Stevens asks deputies to bring Satterly back into the courtroom.

“Is there something that you wish to say to me?” the judge asks.

Satterly argues that he had directed the slur at his brother, not the judge.

“No, no, no, I didn’t mean it like that,” the defendant insists.

“Oh, you didn’t mean it like that?” Stevens replies skeptically. “You don’t speak those words in here. And that word particularly, you don’t use that word.”

“I’m going to give you 60 days for having used that word. I’m going to hold you in contempt right now for having done it in this courtroom. It’s disrespectful; don’t ever do it again.”

Enraged Birders To Retake Oregon Wildlife Refuge In Dawn Offensive

[Burns, OR] The armed militants who have occupied the Oregon wildlife refuge may be encouraged the apparent lack of response by government authorities. But their stand is reportedly doomed anyway, since they picked the worst possible location to make their point, according to a source at the American Birding Association.

“The Malheur sanctuary is home to approximately 320 avian species beloved by birders. BIG mistake.”

The nearby town of Burns has seen a rapid influx of birders who are determined to eject the illegal occupiers. The birders possess a number of advantages when it comes to combat in open terrain, according to those familiar with the hobby.

“They are masters of disguise who know how to blend into the outdoor environment, whereas the enemy, with their pickups, massive guns, and loud obnoxious personalities, tend to stick out like a sore thumb.”

The birders are also exceptionally skilled at spotting the enemy first so they will have the full advantage of surprise, and their uniform of loose fitting garments and comfortable walking shoes means they are quick and light on their feet, much like the Viet Cong during the Vietnam war. They are also equally ruthless when pushed.

White Privilege and the Bundy Brigand Militia "Standoff" in Oregon

The human products of public moocher and rogue Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy's seed are causing a ruckus in Oregon. Bundy's sons, Ammon and Ryan, are leading a group of approximately 150 insurrectionist terrorists who have taken over a federal wildlife preserve near the remote town of Burns, Oregon.

As I suggested in a piece at Salon, if these people were Muslim or black they would be dead. The State would have called down merciless violence to immolate the "terrorists" or "radicals". The corporate news media would have supported this narrative. Fox News would be insane with rage and fear about "black thugs and militants" as well as "Muslim terrorists" who are Americans that were somehow "radicalized" by "extremists".

[The mainstream corporate news media is continuing to coddle and "whitewash" the cosplay cowboy terrorists in Oregon with headlines such as: "Armed anti-government protesters"; "Armed Occupiers"; and "Oregon Group". The race of Bundy's insurrectionists has not been mentioned because they are "white", i.e. "real Americans". Whiteness and white privilege enable racial erasure for white people. In contrast, they mark people of color as less than, the Other, and non-white.]

White privilege is a universal tool, a Swiss Army knife of sorts in American life. The behavior of Bundy's Brigands--and the State's deescalation and non-response--is just one more sign of what most reasonable and intelligent people already know.

Alex Jones rants: Obama could use Oregon militant takeover to justify federal ‘gun-grab’

Conservative radio host Alex Jones fretted on Monday that the seizure of a federal building in Oregon was in danger of being co-opted by President Barack Obama’s administration, Right Wing Watch reported.

“The timing of this now allows the whole debate to not be about the gun-grab, to not be about all the gun control, to not be about the victim disarmament, but to be about citizens with guns taking over buildings,” Jones said in a video filmed in Arizona.

Jones begins the video standing outside, before moving into a house to show viewers what he calls articles — all posted on his website — showing how the White House is utilizing the seizure of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in rural Oregon to further the United Nations’ alleged “Agenda 21” plan to foist international control upon US communities.

The video was released before Dwight and Steven Hammond, the two ranchers whose federal conviction prompted the armed takeover, turned themselves in to authorities.

Jones accused “weaponized media” of spreading talking points about “white terrorists,” but did not mention that at least one member of Ammon Bundy’s group has said he went there “to die”
