FBI releases files related to 2005 Clinton Foundation investigation

From Vox, we learn about this new batch of documents unexpectedly released by the FBI at noon today:

The FBI “vault” is where the agency posts documents online that have been released in response to Freedom of Information Act requests. But government agencies have a lot of flexibility in when (and whether) to honor FOIA requests, so it’s not exactly like they had to release these documents a week before the presidential election — and after several days of being hammered for hyping supposed Clinton misdeeds.

The documents in question are about the Clinton Foundation and the pardon of Marc Rich — which was a famously controversial pardon granted by Bill Clinton right before leaving office in 2001.

Rich had never actually been convicted of wrongdoing — he’d been living abroad since being indicted in the 1980s — which made the pardon unusual, and the fact that his wife had given $1 million to the Democratic Party certainly made the pardon look even sketchier.

But federal investigators ultimately concluded that the Clintons hadn’t done anything wrong. That federal investigation, incidentally, was supervised by then-US Attorney James Comey — the current head of the FBI.

in 2012 Gallup committed suicide by tracking. Is ABC/WaPo next?

Remember when Gallup used to be the media's favorite Serious Prestigious pollster?

Their decision to come up with a daily tracking poll in 2012 resulted in their political death, as they predicted a Romney victory over Obama.

Gallup was fired by the USA Today, and was embarrassed to the point that they decided not to conduct any polls whatsoever this year.

Keep an eye on the Next Big Infallible Daily Tracking ABC/WaPo poll. The polling industry cannot afford another failure. if Hillary wins, ABC and WaPo go to the poll cemetery along with the LA Times.

New Hampshire poll (partially post-Comeygate): Hillary +7

In a new WMUR poll conducted October 26-30, Hillary leads Trump by 7% in a state that Obama won by 6%. This should cheer us all up, IMO.

Polls bombed in Iceland

A recent USA Today article screamed "Hacker-founded Pirate Party could win Iceland election".
The article cited polls showing the pirate party either ahead or slightly behind first-place.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2016/10/27/iceland-election-pirate-party/92819398/

The media fell in love with this anti-establishment party, and so did the polls.

and the end, the pirate party ended in third place.
Have this in mind when you hear pundits pretend that the race is tightening.

Bernie Sanders returning to Maine to stump for Clinton

Source: Bernie Sanders returning to Maine to stump for Cli

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders will return to Maine on Tuesday to campaign for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in Portland.

Sanders will stump for Clinton during a rally scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Deering High School on Stevens Avenue. Sanders maintains a loyal following in Maine, and his appearance is the latest effort by Clinton forces to ensure that those voters turn out for her on Election Day, Nov. 8.

During his unsuccessful bid for the Democratic nomination, Sanders drew large, enthusiastic crowds to two Portland rallies. Republicans have tried to woo Sanders’ anti-establishment backers to Donald Trump’s campaign, but Sanders has worked to thwart those efforts in Maine and nationwide.

Clinton, who lost handily to Sanders in Maine’s Democratic presidential nominating caucuses in March, has not visited the state since September 2015. Her campaign has sent surrogates, including Sanders, to stump on her behalf. Sanders led a campaign rally for Clinton in Bangor Oct. 7.

Looks like Bernie still doesn't give two damns about the emails.

FBI agents pressed unsuccessfully for probe of Clinton Foundation

Source: Washington Post

FBI agents argued — based at least in part on news accounts — earlier this year that the Clinton Foundation should be investigated for potentially giving donors special political access and favors. The Justice Department’s public integrity unit said they did not have enough evidence to move forward.

The Clinton Foundation said it was never contacted by the FBI, suggesting the bureau’s efforts were in a preliminary stage as prosecutors weighed in. But agents in New York have sought to keep their inquiries alive, feuding with the Justice Department about the lengths to which they can go, according to people familiar with the matter.

That infighting became public Sunday, when the Wall Street Journal published a detailed account of interactions between prosecutors and FBI officials over the politically sensitive subject.

The FBI already is under fire for taking actions that could influence the presidential election just days away, after FBI Director James B. Comey revealed agents wanted to look at newly discovered a new batch of emails that were possibly relevant to the probe of Clinton’s private email server. The leak of information about a separate Clinton-related matter fueled more criticism Sunday that the bureau was acting inappropriately.

"The Justice Department’s public integrity unit said they did not have enough evidence to move forward."

Comey is leaking this, as an insinuation that the Clinton Foundation is guilty of something (despite the DOJ finding no evidence).

When I say Comey needs to be fired, I mean it.

Don't believe any daily "tracking" polls

The ABC and Washington Post have decided to go tracking.
They will regret it. Gallup was a good pollster until it went tracking so they could get daily clicks and retweets every day.

And don't get me started on Rasmussen and LA Times tracking.

Exclusive: FBI still does not have warrant to review new Clinton emails

Source: Yahoo News

FBI Director James Comey wrote his bombshell letter to Congress on Friday about newly discovered emails that were potentially “pertinent” to the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server before agents were able to review any of the material because the bureau had not yet gotten a search warrant to read them, three government officials who have been briefed on the probe told Yahoo News.

When Comey wrote the letter, “he had no idea what was in the content of the emails,” one of the officials said, referring to recently discovered emails that were found on the laptop of disgraced ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of top Clinton aide Huma Abedin. Weiner is under investigation for allegedly sending illicit text messages to a 15-year-old girl.

As of Saturday night, the FBI had still not gotten approval from the Justice Department for a warrant that would allow them to read any of the newly discovered Abedin emails, and therefore are still in the dark about whether they include any classified material that the bureau has not already seen.

Nor should Comey get a warrant.
