An Oceanside minister supported Trump. Now, he's getting deported

Source: LA TIMES

Jorge Ramirez, an Oceanside minister and immigrant who is in the country illegally, didn’t think he would end up in line for deportation when he encouraged his U.S. citizen daughter to vote for now-President Trump.

In an interview at the Otay Mesa Detention Center, Ramirez — who said he holds conservative religious beliefs and considers himself a Republican — explained that Border Patrol agents picked him up after staking out his house early one May morning.Ramirez said he does not know why he was targeted for removal from the U.S. The Trump administration has said that it is focusing on immigrants with criminal records and those who previously have been ordered deported. Ramirez said he falls into neither category.

“Trump said, ‘Let’s keep all the good people here and all the bad people out,’” Ramirez said.

“That’s great, but I’m here,” Ramirez said of his detention. “I’m not saying I’m the best person in the world, but I’ve tried to live a good life.”

I know this sounds intensive but this is an example of karmic justice.

Or as Nelson might say.

Top-ranking Vatican cardinal charged with sex offenses in Australia

Source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/acts-of-faith/

A cardinal in charge of the Vatican’s finances has been charged with multiple sexual offenses by Australian police, in one of the most significant indictments against a top-ranking leader of the Catholic Church.

Cardinal George Pell faces multiple charges of “historical sexual assault offenses,” the Australian criminal justice system’s term for offenses committed in the past, Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton announced at a news conference on Thursday morning in Australia.

That morning, Victoria police notified Pell’s legal representative that he has been charged and must appear in court on July 18, Patton said.

Patton said that Pell was treated no differently than any other defendant because of his high rank in the Vatican — notifying a legal representative and summoning the defendant to court at a later date is the recommendation of Australian prosecutors in a case like his.

This is a test case for this pope. He has send nice things about "helping the poor" but if the Vatican protects this Cardinal then he will have shown his true colors.

Given the Brexit negations are starting I thought this was relevant again.

How do you attach a photo to a thread?

Figured this was relevant again given recent events

For those of you who watched the Watergate documentary...

... I think we need to give a major recognition to Eliot Richardson and Bill Ruckelshaus for refusing to fire the special prosecutor during the Saturday Night Massacre.

I know this is old but apparently there is a real life Sir Humphrey Appleby out there.

Never before seen footage of Jeff Sessions.

I feel sorry for Sergey Kislyak.

No one can remember meeting him. He must be the most boring person in DC.
