Something I don't hear anyone talking about with the Parkland school shooting

There was a good guy with a gun on site.

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel confirmed that accused mass murderer Nikolas Cruz managed to shoot up the Parkland high school without ever encountering the school resource deputy.

“He was on campus and he was armed,” Israel said. “At this point, the only thing I can tell you definitively is he never encountered Cruz.”

The Flordia house voted down a motion to take up an assault weapons ban

They pretty much told the kids 'no way'. My advice to the students: vote 'em out!

Sorry, didn't see that this had already been posted.

Is this a dumb question, or is there a real contradiction here?

If the 2nd Amendment exists to help the citizenry fight against a tyrannical government, why are so many 2nd Amendment supporters in favor of a strong military? I'm not trying to generalize here, but just about every 2nd Amendment supporter I know wants the military to be as big and bad as possible, all the while thinking he'll be able to take it on barricaded inside his house some day.

Suicides are killings Too

Does it make anyone else mad that gun nuts complain when suicides are included in gun death statistics? They are always quick to point out that suicides count for a significant portion of gun deaths each year, as if suicides somehow don't count as "real" gun deaths. They also like to complain when accidental gun deaths numbers are included.

I have a question maybe someone could help me with.

The GOP says the Steele Dossier was used to get a FISA warrant to spy on Carter Page. Was Carter Page mentioned in the Steele Dossier? I'm not the smartest person in the world, but for the GOP's memo to make sense wouldn't there have to be a direct connection between the Steele Dossier and Carter Page. I thought the Steele Dossier was about Trump. The GOP seems hell bent on making any FISA warrant about the Steele dossier when there are actually other reasons for monitoring Page.

Wasn't funding for "the wall" settled already?

Why the hell does funding a wall now come up as a condition for DACA?
Trump campaigned saying Mexico was paying for the wall. His followers ate it up. The shyster in chief needs to be reminded of one of his biggest campaign promises.

The company I work for (not Walmart) just jumped on the "instant trickle down" band wagon.

We had a special meeting at work this morning where the supervisor read a memo praising Trump and his tax cuts. We were told we would all be getting a $1000.00 bonus for 2018.

"Well, by golly gee!" I said to myself. That old trickle stuff really works, and instantly too! Keep in mind this is a company that fought hard to create a two tier pay rate where new employees will never make more than their older coworkers.

Before the meeting was over, I did some quick math and realized the bonus falls way short of making up for the money they took from the new employees. The bonus amounts to about $20.00 extra a week per employee, fine and dandy. But, they took away $160.00 per week from the new employees with the two tier pay rate. Stupid me, I mentioned it. Now I'm labeled as the big ingrate, the cynic that doesn't appreciate all the hard work Trump and my company has done for me.

Am I wrong for thinking that there just might be some politics behind this whole "instant trickle down" phenomenon that's been going around? Or, am I just a cynical ingrate?

Why don't Trump or the Republicans ever want to know why Flynn lied?

Seems like a good question, right? You would think a president and his political party would want to know why the National Security Adviser would lie about things that were supposedly legal. But not Trump or most Republicans. They are totally alright with not knowing the answer to this question.

I heard somewhere that it's often what the guilty are not interested in that shows what they know. Could it be that Trump knows exactly why Flynn lied, and that's why it doesn't interest him? As to his party, are they afraid the answer is simply one they don't want to hear?

All the recent news about Harvey Weinstein made me think of something:

Whatever happened to all the woman that accused Trump of improper sexual contact? About this time last year there were quite a few of them, but we don't hear anything about them now.

edited to fix my grammar

I Kept My Doctor And My Plan

That's because I actually had insurance through my employer. It is good insurance, real coverage, not some catastrophic get- you- through- the- door- of- the- hospital plan, designed to take my premiums until they find a way to drop me. When Obama said "keep your plan" he was talking about real coverage, not any old plan out there. The ACA had certain standards, and yes, certain "plans" designed to rip people off didn't qualify.

I get sick of the right wing practice of saying Obama lied about "keeping your plan". People that actually had insurance worth having did keep their plans. Please tell that to your right wing friends if you still have any.
