If the Abortion Pill is Banned, There's an Alternative Already Available

A federal lawsuit filed in Texas could soon take mifepristone off the market. Mifepristone is the first ingredient in the two-drug medication abortion cocktail. The ban on mifepristone could extend to the states in which abortion is fully or partially legal, significantly restricting abortion rights. The judge in the case, Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, is a Trump appointee with a history of reversing progressive and moderate policies and supporting government control of individuals’ lives.

But a new study offers an alternative protocol. According to data just published in the journal Contraception, using the second drug of the abortion pill cocktail, misoprostol, is both safe and effective.

Anti-Putin Nazi group launches attack inside Russia

During the night (for us) a rather bizarre incident took place across the border from Ukraine in a Russian area called Bryansk in which a group of Russian neo-Nazis opposed to Putin launched some kind of an attack and took video of themselves.

Overclassification overkill: The U.S. government is drowning in a sea of secrets

The U.S. faces far more threats to its national security than from spy balloons or classified documents discovered in former and current presidents’ homes.

About 50 million more threats every year. That’s the estimated number of records annually classified as confidential, secret or top secret by the U.S. government.

The U.S. has an overclassification problem, which, experts say, ironically threatens the nation’s security.

Americans' belief in God hit an all-time low about 6 months ago -- here's why

According to a 2022 Gallup survey, the percentage of people who believe in God has dropped from 98% in the 1950s to 81% today; among Americans under 30, it is down to an unprecedented 68%.

Up close, the trend looks even more dramatic. Only about half of Americans believe in “God as described in the Bible,” while about a quarter believe in a “higher power or spiritual force,” according to a Pew poll. Just one-third of Generation Z say they believe in God without a doubt.

Jim Jordan stumbles big time desperately seeking imagined 'deep state' whistleblowers

Allies of Donald Trump and Rep.Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) have been struggling mightily to come up with whistleblowers who will tell all about the imagined "deep state" conspiracy in the federal government out to get the former president. Instead, the effort has turned into a "dumpster fire" blowing up in their faces, Rolling Stone reported Thursday.

Republicans hauled out FBI veteran George Hill in early February to spill about the "weaponized" deep state. But Hill, a former FBI supervisory intelligence analyst, reportedly admitted he had little or no firsthand knowledge of any alleged “deep state” scandals.

California woman fingered as 'Terrorgram' propagandist who promotes mass shootings

A Sacramento-area woman named Dallas Erin Humber has been identified as the voice behind "Terrorgram," a neo-Nazi outlet that pushes extremist propaganda glorifying terrorism and mass shootings in the name of white supremacy, the Huffington Post reported on Thursday.

"A major influence on Terrorgram is the neo-Nazi web forum Iron March, linked to both the proscribed UK-based group National Action, and the US-founded Atomwaffen Division," according to Wikipedia.

Revealed: Jim Jordan's FBI 'whistleblowers' were paid by Trump ally and spread J6 conspiracy theorie

A trio of witnesses being called as "whistleblowers" by the GOP committee investigating the "weaponization" of government were paid off by a Trump ally and spread conspiracy theories, reported The New York Times on Thursday.

"The first three witnesses to testify privately before the new Republican-led House committee investigating the 'weaponization' of the federal government have offered little firsthand knowledge of any wrongdoing or violation of the law, according to Democrats on the panel who have listened to their accounts," reported Luke Broadwater and Adam Goldman. "Instead, the trio appears to be a group of aggrieved former F.B.I. officials who have trafficked in right-wing conspiracy theories, including about the Jan. 6, 2021, attack at the Capitol, and received financial support from a top ally of former President Donald J. Trump."

Bill to Make Daylight Saving Permanent Reemerges From the Dark

Just when sun worshippers lost hope for longer days in gloomy winter months, the Senate may give permanent daylight saving another try.

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., reintroduced the Sunshine Protection Act in the Senate on Wednesday, months after the same bill, which the Senate passed unanimously last March, died in the House at the end of the last session. The bill would end the practice of turning the clocks back one hour to standard time every November and make daylight saving time, which currently begins in March, last throughout the year.
