Hugh_Lebowski's JournalGoodbye Mr Blue - a beautiful song about losing a pet (and a love), kinda wrecks me but it's so good
Father John Misty, released in 2022
This may be the last time
Last time I put on my shoes
Go down to the corner
And buy the damn cat the expensive food
That Turkish Angora's 'bout the only thing left of me and you
Early this morning, it started making sounds that say
"Don't the last time come too soon?
One down, eight to go, but it's no less true
Don't the last time come too soon?"
This may be the last time
Last time I get out of bed
Put coffee on and try, in your words
"To show some initiative"
We used to lay around here laughing
At what these freaks out there were trying to prove
But what's wasting time if not throwing it away on work
When the last time comes so soon?
Mr. Blue died in my arms, nothing they could do
Don't the last time come too soon?
Love's always gonna leave ya
No matter what they say
You only know what it is once it's gone away
This may be the last time
The last time I lay here with you
Do you swear it's not the cat?
You don't have to answer that
I'll just make do
But maybe if he'd gone sooner
Could've brought us back together last June
When the last time was our last time
If only then I knew
sharon van etten - mistakes (studio - 2022) her latest album is brilliant
And this track is freaking killer ... love seeing a 41 yo woman, 14 years into making albums, still just getting better at her craft.
tyler childers - all your'n (live from red rocks, 2019) freaking great song and live sound
Trying to put my finger on what older song this reminds me of, esp. the verses. It'll come to me ...
fleetwood mac - did you ever love me? (studio-1973) written by christine mcvie and bob welch
Christine
fleetwood mac - hold me (studio - 1982) cause I'm giving my girl Chrissie love all day today
and I don't care what anyone thinks
One more Christine McVie tribute ... most people don't know she wrote this one ...
Christine
fleetwood mac - over my head (studio-1975) the radio/45 rpm version which is different
from the one on the eponymous Fleetwood Mac album.
This is what it sounded like when you heard it on the radio or bought the 45 back in '75.
Then if you bought the album, you got a version with a different mix (particularly the level of Lindsey's guitar fills, but drum mix def. different as well), with a longer intro.
Chrissie
Oh, man, just woke up to the news, gutted ... Christine McVie Tribute Thread!!!
Chrissie wrote and sang on so many great songs for Fleetwood Mac, some of my all time faves of theirs. A master songsmith, she was their secret weapon.
Over My Head might even be my favorite Mac track actually, I just love it's sultry groove, and the way she sings it sounds like it could be a guy singing it in falsetto, giving it a genderless quality. Plus who doesn't know the feelings she's expressing lyrically?
Godspeed Christine, ye will be missed, and thanks for all the great music you brought us
