Jeremy Corbyn's call to Nationalize the Utlilities: Beginning of end for Neoliberalism?

In the UK, Jeremy Corbin, Labour's leader, called for nationalizing Utilities to standing ovation in the hall.
The politicians would not have done so a few short years ago, but, as the failure of Neoliberalism continues, many politicians in the UK are seeing that another route must be taken. One more akin to the social compact like that after the war and running until the advent of Thatcherism.

Will our politicians eyes also be open enough to see how bad neoliberalism has been for the country and willingly try a new route or go back to what worked before with our own Social compact in the New Deal.

Neoliberalisms love of small government and privatization has been a 40 year failure. One that both parties embraced. And as a result, it has caused pain for the working and middle class both sides of the Atlantic.

I personally will dance on the grave of Neoliberalism when and if it comes to America.

From the article:

'But this was not just one proposal: it was part of a much wider narrative, set in train by the Labour manifesto in June and cemented by Corbyn at conference. It is the narrative of social democracy, of economic demand management, of public spending and public goods, of nationalised projects in the name of the society at large, of education from cradle to grave.....

The moves in the first half of the 20th century across the West toward large social spending, encapsulated in early welfare states of Europe and in the New Deal in the US, did not spring from nowhere. They came from the spread of ideas by trade unions and labour movements and thinkers over many years. These eventually led to a groundswell of demand to do things differently.
Likewise, the move throughout the 1970s towards Thatcherism and Reaganism did not spring from two elections at the end of the decade. They came from a long germination of ideas that ran counter to the previous social democratic consensus.
In both cases, politicians emerged to represent the emergence of these new ideas and lead the charge to implement them as policy. But without the narrative in the first place, there is no charge to lead, and thus no sweeping change.
So it is with Corbyn’s Labour party in 2017. They have seized the moment, identified the failed years of austerity and recognised the disaffection people feel with politics when there is little difference between the parties that represent us. It has offered a vision of society that feels – and is – very different to the dominant visions of recent decades. It’s the product of Corbyn’s lifelong commitment to the vision he outlines, for sure, but also a skillful bit of manoeuvring. He has identified social trends and corralled them.'

Gen. Russell Honore: Trump Doesn't Care About People of Color

Gen. Honore, the man who turned around the disaster of a response to New Orleans after thousands died, was on CNN the other day.
Asked about what Trump said over not lifting the Jones act - yet- Russell Honore said Trump doesn't care about poor people. Trump doesn't care about people of color.

And that is why Trump made sure Texas and Florida got a response. But, the most devastating hurricane in a century destroys Puerto Rico, leaving it's residence without food, water, medical help and homeless.
Trump's response is to shrug his shoulders.

A journalist today on MSNBC said she heard from Administration people that Trump does not consider Puerto Rico really part of the US.
Just a small part of it is America. But, not really America. Besides, its in debt.

Did anyone inform him it is in debt because Wall Street vultures came in and destroyed to fill their own pockets and congress went along with them and made sure Puerto Rico was left out to dry on their own? No. Because its something Trump himself would do....Wait! Trump did do. He scammed them as well.

All week I knew that the reason Trump left PR to die on its own, its people to suffer...Americans to suffer, is because he sees it as a place where brown people live. It's not a 'white' place. It's brown. Let them die.

Anyway, here is the clip of Russell Honore:

Emails, the media and politics

I was watching Ari Melber's show and he spoke about the media's coverage of Hillary's emails to the one out about Jarred Kushner's emails now. And I just felt this sense of outrage that I just had to write about.

I supported Bernie Sanders in the Primary. I was a strong supporter. I guess that is why I feel I need to write about the recent story about Jared and Ivanka's email use while in the White House.

I do not have the deep emotional attachment and yet, I can say I feel deeply angry over the press and how they went after Hillary on her emails and yet, shrug over the Trump White House use of them.

I don't see breathless all day coverage.
I don't see Breaking New Headlines
I don't see anyone calling for Congressional Hearings
I don't see this garnering over a year of daily coverage and pretty much see the story fading by Thursday.
Hillary's email story was ginned up and made into the overwhelming biggest story of the campaign.

The majority of the people who did not vote for Hillary was because they thought her untrustworthy and a liar. Her emails played a huge role in why people would not vote for Hillary or switched at the last minute.

But, I am betting that the majority of people do not and will not know about those in Trump's White House doing the same thing.

We have an ignorant, psychologically damaged, immature, dangerous, corrupt criminal in the White House. We have his co horts helping him destroy government agencies, our country and our reputation.

And Hillary's emails is most likely the reason why.

Not so much her emails as the way the media covered her, the emails and kept this unspoken but, implied idea in people's heads that both Bill and Hillary Clinton were very corrupt people.

Not competent, capable, experienced people with a deep knowledge of the law and government and diplomacy. But, just basically very corrupt.

So, we get, instead, the person who is actually deeply corrupt, criminal and a constant liar. And also someone with no clue on how to run a country, the government, or how to deal with other leaders. Some who has more then just a bit of psychological problems.

Our country has been put in danger. Will lose its Standing and Reputation - already has. All because of the irresponsible, out of control and bias media.

So, yes. I am deeply angry.

We have Donald Trump as President today because the media has to take a minor oops of a problem and make it into a major, federal criminal issue and would not let it go or tell the truth about it.

There was no other reason Hillary lost. She lost thanks to our Traditional Media and it's continued dislike of the Clintons and ginning up the email story.
