I read earlier that it now cost an average of $20K more for lumber to build a house now than it did a year ago. And there is no sign of it going back down before 2022 at the earliest.

I've been through dozens and dozens of hurricanes, all the way back to Camille in 1969. After each one (almost every one) there have been laws that made it illegal to price gouge for anything, including water and gas.

On Tuesday night, it was reported that the Dallas Mavericks had decided to stop playing the national anthem before home games this season, a choice led by owner Mark Cuban. And, as you'd expect, such a significant change from what has been tradition for years and years would lead to both positive and negative opinions of the decision.

One prominent figure who supported the move was New Orleans Pelicans head coach and longtime NBA fixture Stan Van Gundy. The former Heat, Magic and Pistons head coach and two-time All-Star Game head coach expressed his thoughts on Twitter.

"This should happen everywhere," Van Gundy wrote. "If you think the anthem needs to be played before sporting events, then play it before every movie, concert, church service and the start of every work day at every business. What good reason is there to play the anthem before a game?"

I am going to attempt to explain this. I'm pretty darn good at puter stuff, but this has me baffled.

I just purchased and installed a new computer and monitor. The graphics card is a RTX 3070 and the monitor is a Benq PD2700U.

When I go to display properties(and the Nvidia settings), it shows the recommended resolution as 3840 x 2160, which is where it is set.
But, when I go to Speccy, my current and working resolution shows up as 1920 x 1080.

Which am I actually seeing?

Prosecutors seeking to increase Kyle Rittenhouse’s $2 million bond said Thursday that the ability of the Kenosha, Wisc., shooter to “roam freely” before trial is “extremely rare for an accused murderer” and argued his address should be made public. But his defense attorneys argue that housing Rittenhouse in a secret safe house is necessary to protect his life.

Richards, who did not respond to requests for comment, has not denied in court filings that Rittenhouse failed to alert the court to his new address until the issue spilled out into public view. He instead cited threats and said his client has remained in constant touch with his attorneys throughout the process.

Asked to provide copies of the threats, Pierce said he could not immediately produce them because “it would take days to organize,” adding that they are spread over Facebook, Twitter, email and voice-mail messages on multiple devices of different parties.

“I wouldn’t even know where to start,” he said. He characterized the messages as threatening “nasty and serious bodily harm.”
