That is not the British conception of what this is at all. They sort of see it as a negotiation between two equal parties.

But the British government is not interested in telling people, “You know, this thing that 52 per cent of you said that you wanted, here are the range of options: there’s less good and then there’s very, very bad”.

They haven’t actually done a lot of macroeconomic modelling of this, almost, like, deliberately.

Like, “We don’t want to know! Because leaving is going to be great, and it’s what people voted for, so let’s not spend government money on analysis that suggests that maybe people got it wrong”.

Donald Trump Jr., President Trump’s oldest son, will be out Nov. 5 — a year before Election Day — with “Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us” — and we’re told topics include free speech, censorship and Big Tech.

Don Jr., a hunter and fisherman who’s a popular talk-radio guest in Trump country, plans to travel the country campaigning for his dad. The book’s thrashing of political correctness previews the stump message Don Jr. will use to try to jack up swing-state turnout by the Republican base.

Trump defended his recent attacks on the “Squad” of Democratic Congresswomen, saying “when they call our country garbage, think of that. That’s worse than deplorable. Well, they call our country garbage, I don’t care about politics.”

Ignoring the fact that none of the elected officials ever called the nation “garbage” Scarborough lit in with “first of all, that was a lie. He’s a liar. He’s lied there. But this is a guy that called America quote, crippled. His inaugural speech.”

“It was not ‘ask not what you can do for your country,’ …it was ‘American carnage,'” Scarborough added, before listing specifics.

“Talking about the crime, despite the fact that crime was at a 50-year low. Talking about that we don’t even have borders, despite the fact that illegal crossings under Barack Obama, 50 year low. They have skyrocketed up under Donald Trump. He said the American dream was dead. He said we were stupid. He said all of our leaders were stupid. This is a man whose entire adult life has trashed the United States of America for 40 years.”

For some people, that was the bridge too far.

West Virginia State Sen. Paul Hardesty, a self-described “conservative Democrat” and 2016 “Trump supporter,” sent a letter to Trump calling him out on the language:

… I am, however, appalled by the fact that you chose to use the Lord’s name in vain on two separate occasions, when you went off the prompter during your speech. There is NO place in society — anywhere, anyplace and at anytime — where that type of language should be used or handled. Your comments were not presidential. I know in my heart that you are better than that.
