A Top Bernie Sanders Adviser Is Named In The Evidence List For Paul Manafort’s Trial

An exhibit list released this week in the Mueller investigation cites emails from 2014.
It was previously reported that Tad Devine, a top Sanders strategist, stopped working in Ukraine in 2012. He lied.

SNIP
His role in the investigation entangles the Sanders orbit in an expansive government inquiry that has probed questions surrounding Russia’s interference in the US election, Trump’s potential obstruction of justice, and the insider world of lobbying and influence in Washington that runs counter to the Vermont senator’s own brand of insurgent anti-establishment politics.

Devine’s firm, Devine Mulvey Longabaugh, continues to do work for Sanders, who is running for reelection in the US Senate this year, as well as other 2018 candidates.

Manafort and his former associate Rick Gates, who served as Trump’s deputy campaign chair, worked on behalf of Viktor Yanukovych, the former pro-Russia president of Ukraine, beginning in the mid-2000s.
Devine also worked in Ukraine with Manafort on Yanukovych’s behalf — a long-public business arrangement.

Such a fine bunch to be closely connected to.
The trail leads straight to Putin.

I'm sure Mueller will put it all in perspective real soon.
Sure would be good if Mueller can lift the Manafort/Devine weight hanging from Sanders' shoulders.

We'll wait...

Paul Manafort/ A career of reinventing the world's nastiest tyrants as noble defenders of freedom

http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/politics/2016/04/paul_manafort_isn_t_a_gop_retread_he_s_made_a_career_of_reinventing_tyrants.html

A revealing and necessary read. The ties to Paul Manafort are stunning.

APRIL 28 2016 5:30 AM

The Quiet American

Paul Manafort made a career out of stealthily reinventing the world’s nastiest tyrants as noble defenders of freedom. Getting Donald Trump elected will be a cinch.

Some saw the hiring of Manafort as desperate, as Trump reaching for a relic from the distant past in the belated hope of compensating for a haphazard campaign infrastructure.

In fact, securing Manafort was a coup. He is among the most significant political operatives of the past 40 years, and one of the most effective.

He has revolutionized lobbying several times over, though he self-consciously refrains from broadcasting his influence.
Unlike his old business partners, Roger Stone and Lee Atwater,
you would never describe Manafort as flamboyant

SNIP
“Real estate was the ostensible reason for sending money to New York. But they never wanted to close on the project, they wanted to keep the cash liquid, so it could keep going back to Ukraine.”

The suit never had much of a chance, because it didn’t offer enough supporting evidence to justify its grandiose claim: that Manafort and Firtash were laundering money to finance human rights abuses on a grand scale.

But her case raised all manner of troubling questions, and reinforced an old one:
Why would Paul Manafort so consistently do the bidding of oligarchs loyal to Vladimir Putin?

SNIP
Manafort has consistently given his clients a patina of respectability that has allowed them to migrate into the mainstream of opinion, or close enough to the mainstream.

He has a particular knack for taking autocrats and presenting them as defenders of democracy.

If he could convince the respectable world that thugs like Savimbi and Marcos are friends of America, then why not do the same for Trump?

One of his friends told me, “He wanted to do his thing on home turf. He wanted one last shot at the big prize.

**Explains why Mueller will never let Manafort step outside his prison cell.
Why Manafort was the target & certainly justifies the raid on his home.

TODAY: Confirmation Vote /Ryan Bounds for Fed Appeals Ct/ San Francisco

This appointment & due to be comfirmed today is Yet Another case of McConnell going around the Law to seat a RW judge.

THIS VOTE TO CONFIRM, TODAY IS STACKING THE DECK AGAINST THE PUBLIC.

HERE:

The Democrats opposed Bounds in part because of conservative op-eds he wrote while an undergraduate at Stanford and because as a conservative, he would contribute to the rightward shift of the federal judiciary that marks one of Trump's most successful initiatives.

Senate Ends Debate on Portland Prosecutor Nominated For Federal Judgeship By Narrowest Possible Vote
Ryan Bounds likely to win confirmation this week for coveted vacancy on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

SNIP

The Ninth Circuit, which covers nine western states including Oregon and two Pacific islands, is generally regarded as the most liberal of the country's federal appeals courts.

President Donald J. Trump nominated Bounds last year upon the advice of U.S. Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.), the only Republican member of Oregon's congressional delegation.

Typically, federal judicial nomination are the province of a state's U.S. senators. But because both of Oregon's senators, U.S. Sens. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) are Democrats, Trump chose to ignore the candidates they selected.

In the tradition-bound Senate, nominees usually cannot move forward over the objection of home state senators but this year Senate President Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate Judiciary Chair Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) ignored that tradition and the objections of Wyden and Merkley
