More than 10,000 people were expected. Fewer than 300 showed up

Some of the biggest names pushing pro-Trump conspiracy theories were unable to draw much of a crowd at a "We the People Reunion" rally in Kentucky.

"The event is hosting speakers such as the CEO of MyPillow, Mike Lindell, former national security advisor Michael Flynn and Pastor Greg Locke, who has in the past admitted to being at the Capitol during the January 6 Capitol riot," WFIE 14 News reported.

The station reported on attendance at the event.

"Promoters said they expected crowds of around 10,000 people. Fewer than 300 were at the event when 14 News arrived," the network reported.

California recall candidate Larry Elder launches voter fraud website ahead of election

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
California gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder is already preparing to challenge the recall results if Gov. Gavin Newsom stays in office.

Elder is currently the top-polling candidate seeking to replace the governor.

A link on Elder’s campaign website takes users to a form where they can report incidents of voter fraud and sign a petition to investigate the results of the recall.

Elder made comments to reporters earlier this week that there could be “shenanigans” in the recall similar to the 2020 election. There was no evidence of widespread election fraud in the 2020 election.

Biden administration tells ex-Trump officials to resign from military academy advisory boards or be dismissed

(CNN)The Biden administration has told 11 officials appointed to military service academy advisory boards by former President Donald Trump to resign or be dismissed, a source familiar with the situation tells CNN's KFile.

The officials asked to resign include prominent former Trump officials like former White House press secretary Sean Spicer, former senior counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway and former national security adviser H.R. McMaster. They were appointed to the advisory boards of the Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and West Point respectively.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Wednesday afternoon confirmed the request had been made.

"The President's objective is what any president's objective is -- to ensure you have nominees and people serving on these boards who are qualified to serve on them and who are aligned with your values. And so yes, that was an ask that was made," Psaki told reporters at a White House briefing.

Trump, without evidence, already claiming Gavin Newsom recall election is 'rigged'

Former President Donald Trump, who is still banned on most social media platforms for pushing thoroughly debunked voter fraud conspiracies related the 2020 presidential election, called into Newsmax Tuesday and offered some fresh new evidence-free conspiracies regarding the Gavin Newsom recall election.


"It's probably rigged," Trump said. "They're sending out all ballots, the ballots are mail-in ballots; in fact, I guess you even have a case where you can make your own ballot. When that happens no one is going to win except these Democrats."

Trump offered no specifics save for his "make your own ballot" line, which appears to be a reference to California's Remote Accessible Vote By Mail program, a seldom-used system that was created for voters with disabilities


The system allows those voters to "mark their selections using their own compatible technology," which can include having a computer play the audio of candidate names or clicking boxes as opposed to filling out bubbles on paper. In order to qualify for remote accessible vote by mail, a voter must contact election officials and receive pre-clearance.

Trump set to back attorney in primary challenge to Cheney

Former President Trump is set to back a Wyoming attorney as she readies a primary challenge against Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), a source confirmed to The Hill on Wednesday, making good on his vow to help replace the outspoken Republican after she voted for his impeachment.

The former president is set to throw his support behind Harriet Hageman as she looks toward a bid for Cheney’s congressional seat, the source, who requested anonymity, said.

Trump’s allies and team pushed Hageman to run against Cheney, according to Politico, which first reported the developments on Trump's expected endorsement, and are now pressuring the rest of the Republican field to coalesce around the attorney out of concern that a crowded primary race could split the anti-Cheney vote and hand the incumbent a victory.


Trump in recent days has endorsed challengers to sitting GOP lawmakers, including candidates taking on Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) and Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-Wash.), both of whom were among the 10 House members to vote for his impeachment in January.

Last Thursday night, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell made a surprising admission to his loyal followers, considering that he faces a defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems for $1.3 billion. Lindell said his company has profited from his repeated lies about the voting technology firm — enough that the pillow king has recently hired an additional 200 employees.

"We hired 200 more employees because — 200 more employees," the MyPillow guy stated on his streaming site, Lindell TV. "We had to hire more because we are busy. People have responded. They have responded out there. We are a USA company with — now we have 2,700 employees. They are hardworking people."

In fact, Dominion argued exactly this in the company's initial Feb. 22 complaint against MyPillow and Lindell, alleging that the pillow tycoon had pushed unsubstantiated lies about the 2020 election and Dominion's voting machines in order to generate more revenue for his pillow empire.

Describing Lindell as "a talented salesman and former professional card counter," Dominion's complaint alleged that he "sells the lie to this day because the lie sells pillows. MyPillow's defamatory marketing campaign — with promo codes like 'FightforTrump,' '45,' 'Proof,' and 'QAnon' — has increased MyPillow sales by 30-40% and continues duping people into redirecting their election-lie outrage into pillow purchases."

Ex-FBI official says law enforcement needs to take upcoming right-wing rally in DC 'very seriously'

Washington (CNN)Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe said Monday evening that law enforcement needs to take the upcoming right-wing rally in support of jailed January 6 rioters "very seriously" as concerns mount about more potential violence on Capitol Hill.

"I think they should take it very seriously. In fact, they should take it more seriously than they took the same sort of intelligence that they likely saw on January 5," McCabe, a CNN contributor, told CNN's Poppy Harlow on "Erin Burnett OutFront."

Law enforcement members in Washington are steeling themselves against possible unrest at the "Justice for J6" rally -- planned for September 18 -- which aims to support the insurrectionists charged in the riot.

The event, organized by a former Trump campaign staffer, has prompted security concerns on Capitol Hill, and some precautionary measures will be in place. However, it's unclear how many protesters plan to attend. The rally is also taking place on a Saturday, when the House will be on recess, so far fewer lawmakers or staff will be around.

Betting markets swing in favor of Gov. Gavin Newsom as California recall effort enters home stretch

The campaign to recall California Gov. Gavin Newsom lost so much momentum in the past month that bettors now say there’s over an 85% chance that the effort fails.

According to political betting website PredictIt, the Democrat’s odds of staying in office after the recall election on Sept. 14, reached their highest mark last week since early July.

On Thursday, a bet on a successful recall (meaning a wager that Newsom would be ousted) cost 10 cents on PredictIt, down from 26 cents a week earlier and a high of 34 cents in early August. As of Sunday, they price had risen slightly to 14 cents.

Correct bets on PredictIt redeem at $1, so a wager at 10 cents would earn 90 cents should the recall prevail. The price of a bet in favor of a recall hasn’t closed below 10 cents since May 20, according to PredictIt. The low of the campaign was 8 cents, a few days earlier in May.
