Can Anyone Explain to Me Rep. Brenda Lawrence's Rationale Here?

Radio interview where Rep. Lawrence wants to bump down from impeachment to censure!

https://www.nobsnewshour.com/no-bs-news-hour-november-24th-2019/

What on Earth was Rep. Lawrence thinking?! She said she hadn't even run this by Speaker Pelosi or her caucus yet! Even if she feels this way, she should have at least tried to get perspective from Speaker Pelosi and/or Rep. Schiff before just blurting out this inanity. She's in a crazy safe Dem district, but might have screwed herself into a primary now, and for what? Sure enough, I scanned right wing-nut headlines after I found this out and those assholes jumped on her segment. Ugh.

One Thing I Will Say About the Special Counsel Report

We need to be 100% crystal clear whether Mueller and Company decided not to pursue whatever indictments they demurred on because:

1) they were stonewalled from obtaining/verifying damning evidence of the charges being investigated from uncooperative/obstructive people/companies (something I am 99% sure of).
2) they truly could not find any such evidence or even a path to where such evidence would be found (HIGHLY doubtful to me; we saw what only makes sense as obstruction being committed out in the open by Spanky and his goons but I am not a lawyer).

I think having every detail of the report made public that would not compromise national security would make explanation (1) crystal clear and show that, no, Trump is not innocent or vindicated. If we hammer hard enough on that point and try to investigate thoroughly ourselves we might also be able to ingrain just how corrupt Spanky and his admin are in the minds of the majority of people outside the Fox/MAGA cult.

So now that we have two obvious potential SNL cold opens, which one do you think they'll do?

The almost-but-not-quite-yet Hanoi deal, or the Cohen congressional craziness?

In all seriousness, I'm just shaking my head in abject disappointment. It's almost certainly too late for Spanky, but I hope the next president knows not to stage a big summit until AFTER THE DEAL IS SEALED.

Has anyone with a law background here kept an eye on the First Step Act?

From what I heard, the Turtle will bring the bill to a senate vote, where if it (most likely) passes, it will be sent back to the house. This bill seems like a good one, but I admittedly have no knowledge of the nitty gritty in the law. I have a few questions:

1) Precisely what increased discretion does it give judges with respect to sentencing and which judges are awarded this discretion?

2) Are the rehabilitation programs proposed for released/minor crime offenders subject to budgetary oversight and performance regulation/evaluation? If so, then by whom?

3) If this bill was such a success, then why didn't Republicans/Spanky try to pass it (or at least use it as a vote motivator) before the midterms? You'd think that they'd try to tout something that may pull some African American Democrats (the Van Jones wing anyway) and Independents over to their side so they wouldn't lose the House.

4) Do the Pubs actually want to pass this bill?

5) After Spanky's spanking today, will he/Republicans try to poison the bill with Wall Funding in order to try and tie the Democrats' hands? Would this even work?

Can anybody well-versed in law answer some questions about the First Step Act for me?

1) Precisely what increased discretion does it give judges with respect to sentencing and which judges are awarded this discretion?

2) Are the rehabilitation programs proposed for released/minor crime offenders subject to budgetary oversight and performance regulation/evaluation? If so, then by whom?

3) If this bill was such a success, then why didn't Republicans/Spanky bleat about it before the midterms? You'd think that they'd try to tout something that may pull some African American Democrats (the Van Jones wing anyway) and Independents over to their side so they wouldn't lose the House.

The Frightened Orange Doofus is Already Threatening Obstruction for Democratic Oversight

Not gonna link directly to his verbal diarrhea, but I'll quote it below:

"If the Democrats think they are going to waste Taxpayer Money investigating us at the House level, then we will likewise be forced to consider investigating them for all of the leaks of Classified Information, and much else, at the Senate level. Two can play that game!"

Obviously something this articulate and free of spelling errors was transcribed by the likes of either Huckleberry or Skeletoranne, but it captures the current spectrum of possible thought in the Dotard's head perfectly. Hopefully all of the Debbie Downers here now actually realize what taking the House back (even by only a few seats) can do for us.

Is Anyone Else Baffled by How SNL Did Not Say ANYTHING About the MAGAbomber or GABshooter Tonight?

I mean they have had moments of pure seriousness on the show before. Eleven innocents dead and many more threatened/traumatized and not one single mention? WTF SNL?

Some Clarifications about the TargetSmart TargetEarly Interactive Poll

In the twittersphere I'm starting to see some glee among Republicans and some despair among Democrats about the early vote thanks to TargetSmart's TargetEarly interactive website (I will not link it here unless someone asks me to). For those of you here inclined to despair, here are some reassurances:

- The website lists what days information was last collected. For most states, it is no later than Tuesday (10/23) so far.
- Almost all of the battleground states have significantly higher returned absentee ballot totals accounted for than in-person early votes. From what I remember, absentee ballots almost always skew towards older Republicans (Someone please tell me if I am incorrect on this).
- Either most or least importantly, most of the battleground states I've seen do not have totals of registered voters by party, but instead have modeled voters by party. What this means is not something I can elucidate clearly so I will link the page explaining it here: https://targetearly.targetsmart.com/modeling.html Basically, though, I can say that TargetSmart is using its best guess (which admittedly would be much better than mine) about how many voters of a certain party have voted so far based on data acquired as explained in the linked page.

So do not despair, my friends, but as you cannot hear enough, please vote and volunteer as much as you can!

I pray that the Clintons, the Obamas, Eric Holder, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz are all safe

Including Kamala Harris, Andrew Cuomo, and the CNN and San Diego Tribune buildings. I will update as necessary.

As for who I think is behind this: Seeing how the MAGATs are claiming false-flag and we are (more reasonably) claiming a nutcase bomber and/or bomb-making organization, this has all the makings of an operation executed by a group aiming to tear this country apart and weaken its populace as much as possible via polarization. Now who would benefit most from this most my comrades?
