When discussing how Dems can win "rural voters," please use proper terminology: "WHITE rural voters"

Because that's who you really mean.

America has plenty of black and brown voters in rural areas all across the country. And most of them vote Democratic. But in almost every discussion I've seen about the "rural voter," they actually mean white people.

I know it's uncomfortable for some people to refer to anyone as "white," but it's an important distinction in this particular type of discussion.

Thank you.

Here we go already: "After worshiping Trump voters, New York Times flips the script on Biden voters"

Joe Biden hasn't even been president-elect for one week and already the New York Times is claiming on its front page that the Democrat might have a problem among his most loyal supporters. It's a stunning turn-around from how the Times has cheered and promoted Trump voters, detailing their adoration for the GOP leader.

For four years, the Times flooded its newspaper and website with endless updates on Trump voters and how much his white, working class supporters inside Midwest diners love him and will never question him. That coverage has been relentless, and has become a running joke on Twitter among critics who laugh every time the daily posts another carbon copy Trump voter story.

But here we are, less than one week after Biden's declared victory, and what's the angle to the Times' first front-page Biden Voter story? It's most definitely not about how much his supporters love and admire him and will stand by him. It's about how his supporters are leery of him and aren't sure Biden will deliver on his promises.

Right on schedule, the daily has ripped up its Trump voter playbook and is suggesting Biden's backing is soft, even among his most ardent supporters— Black voters. It's an absurd about-face for the Times.

"Black Voters Helped Deliver Biden a Presidential Victory. Now What?" read the Wednesday headline, delivering a dose of cold water for the Democrat. Insisting his supporters were "skeptical" of Biden, "not excited," and questioned his "sincerity," the Times framed the story of Biden Black voters in a deeply unusual manner.

Excellent advice

Unassailable point by Nate Silver

"Maybe worth noting that Democrats are 3-0 this century when they have a Black person on the ticket, and 0-3 when they don't."

The media doesn't "call" an election. They project a winner based on the numbers they have

That projection has no legal meaning or import and has no effect on the the actual outcome of the election.

That's why all of the demands that the media "call it" and the angry complaints that they haven't done so yet is odd - especially since many of us think the media are often idiots who generally shouldn't be taken seriously. We all have the same information they have. If, based on that information, you think Biden is going to be the winner, why do you need Steve Kornacki to tell you that the MSNBC Decision Desk agrees with you?

I'm feeling better about things than I have in years - we are on the verge of a horrible menace being run out of office and the country being turned back around under President Biden and Vice President Harris. I refuse to have my joy stolen or spend this time complaining and getting all worked up over the fact that a media outlet hasn't yet decided that it is comfortable projecting a winner.
