The hard truth about Biden and I hate saying it

First I know I have EW as who I am supporting but I am still kind of undecided. I'm actually starting to lean toward Pete Buttigieg the more I see of him. So my support has nothing to do with what I am about to say.

And I hate to say this cause I like Biden. I always have. Saw him speak live at West York High School (York, PA) in 2008. This pains me to say but Biden just does not have it any more. I assume its age. Everyone ages differently. He gets lost on the debate stage. He forgets what he is saying in mid sentence. He messes up his facts. You can see he knows what he wants to say but he cant get it out. He was a much better debater so you know it has to be his age getting to him. It happens it everyone.

The one commentator on MSNBC even said after the debate (which I was surprised) This was on a question about Sanders - I'm paraphrasing : Sanders did really well tonight. Even though he is older and just coming back from a heart attack he was more coherent than Biden.

I just do not think we can turn a blind eye to this anymore. Then you add in his fundraising numbers and it just backs up the lack of excitement Biden produces.

Starting to think that more center Dems should start looking elsewhere. Pete or Klobuchar maybe? But this is a real problem.

I hope its not wrong for me to say these.

For the first time in history, U.S. billionaires paid a lower tax rate than the working class last y

Source: Washington Post Business

A new book-length study on the tax burden of the ultrarich begins with a startling finding: In 2018, for the first time in history, America’s richest billionaires paid a lower effective tax rate than the working class.

“The Triumph of Injustice,” by economists Emmanuel Saez and Gabriel Zucman of the University of California at Berkeley, presents a first-of-its kind analysis of Americans’ effective tax rates since the 1960s. It finds that in 2018 the average effective tax rate paid by the richest 400 families in the country was 23 percent, a full percentage point lower than the 24.2 percent rate paid by the bottom half of American households.

In 1980, by contrast, the 400 richest had an effective tax rate of 47 percent. In 1960, their tax rate was as high as 56 percent. The effective tax rate paid by the bottom 50 percent, by contrast, has changed little over time.

The relatively small tax burden of the super-rich is the product of decades of choices made by American lawmakers, some deliberate, others the result of indecisiveness or inertia, Saez and Zucman say. Congress has repeatedly slashed top income tax rates, for instance, and cut taxes on capital gains and estates. Lawmakers have also failed to provide adequate funding for IRS enforcement efforts and allowed multinational companies to shelter their profits in low-tax countries.

Unfortunately this will go under the radar and American working class will never know what is really going on.

Does anyone else like Pete Buttigieg the more he talks?

The more I hear Pete Buttigieg speak with his calm personality the more I like him.

He seems very knowledgeable and is very good at making his point. There is something about him that if he was President I would feel like we are in very safe hands.

Does anyone else find it annoying

that Warren for the second time does not get to take the debate stage the same time as Biden?

Lets face it. Biden right now is the most known candidate. Like the last two debates, the night he is on, will get the higher ratings, since he is the front runner.

I do not think its fair that Warren does not get to be on the same stage with Biden in either of these debates.

Like button in DU

I sent this to the administrators but thought I would start a thread.

Has the site ever considered adding a "Like" button at the bottom of peoples post & replies? I see comments that I like or agree with and it would be nice to be able to like them so the poster knows people agree with or like what they said.

I also belong to a Dallas Cowboys messageboard (https://cowboyszone.com/forums/fan-zone.59/) and its a really nice feature. It actually keeps track of how many likes a member has.

It would be nice to read something and just click "like" instead of having to reply to the person to just say you agree.

on the site I mention they have the Like or Reply right beside each other.

Just a thought. I do really enjoy this site.

I'm a little scared & thinking about switching my support to Biden

First off. I do like Biden. I always have. But I like several candidates more because they are more "progressive".

If I could wave a magic wand I would easily pick Warren to be the President. I think she would bring the biggest change in the direction I believe in. She would go after the banks, wall street, corp. American more than any other candidate (besides maybe Bernie).

But I am also worried that she could lose to Trump. I'm so scared of him being reelected. I do think Biden would beat Trump & actually beat him pretty easy.

My first thought was that since Trump's approval is so low, this would be the best time to elect a real, left leaning progressive candidate. This might be our shot. But now that Trumps poll numbers went up some and all his hate speech. I'm really worried of another 4 years of this man.

Its not like I would be unhappy with Biden. He is a good man. He would definitely get our moral compass back. He just does not excite me as much as some of the others. But he does seem like the safe pick.

My question for the DU is - Do I vote with my heart or with my head?

I don't get to vote for a long time being in PA but I have given money to Warren's & Harris campaign. Just wondering if I should just give my support to Biden.
