Today, it's all about the "stay"

Trump is appealing the ruling, but that's not the important thing right now-his lawyers are asking for a stay, which would prevent documents from being turned over to the 1/6 committee.

So, fingers crossed for no stay today!!!!

Does everyone remember "Read my Lips-No New Taxes"?

Thankfully, it didn't turn out too well for him-he lost.

What do you think the media will do if Biden can't pass both bills?

Let's get this done, Democrats

Rep. Liz Cheney says Jan. 6 committee has conducted more than 150 interviews

This is great news

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2021/11/04/liz-cheney-says-jan-6-committee-has-conducted-150-interviews/6289036001/

WASHINGTON – The House select committee investigating the events leading up to, and surrounding, the insurrection attempt on the U.S. Capitol is making significant behind-the-scenes progress, according to its members.

Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., co-chair of the committee, told reporters the committee has conducted more than 150 interviews so far, according to an aide.

"That just gives you a sense. It is a range of engagements — some formal interviews, some depositions," said Cheney to Politico, which first reported the story. "There really is a huge amount of work underway that is leading to real progress for us.”

The chair of the committee, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., has signed 20 additional subpoenas that could be issued imminently, according to a select committee aide.

So. it's been a month

since my sister lost her battle with Covid.

She came to my apartment for a visit in August. I tried very hard to get her to get vaccinated. And I almost convinced her, but she was scared, and she was getting the wrong info from her adult kids-and "that" website.

As I sit in front of the computer now, I remember how she was sitting next to me, and I tried to wean her off the Facebook nonsense she had been reading. I told her to keep playing games on there if she wanted, but ignore that damn news feed. I showed her some websites where she could read some legit news. But I could see in her face she was troubled. And she showed the strain of a life where she was the sole parent and grandparent, as her husband had died many years before.

She and her adult daughter came down with Covid in early September. While her daughter went for monoclonal antibodies, and recovered fairly quickly, for some reason my sister did not go as well. She fought hard, but ultimately she declined a respirator and passed after several agonizing weeks.

When I spoke to my niece when my sister was first hospitalized, I asked her if she and her mom had gotten vaccinated after all. She told me that she and her mom didn't, that she was an adult and she could make her own choice. I told her that you can't make an informed choice if you don't have all the necessary information. She did not answer.

I miss her greatly.

Why is the press rooting for a Democratic loss in Virginia?

https://pressrun.media/p/why-is-the-press-rooting-for-a-democratic

Sticking close to the media’s preferred script, Axios this week reported that the walls were caving in on Democrat Terry McAuliffe, who’s caught in a surprisingly close race in Virginia’s governor’s race. “It was clear the McAuliffe campaign has taken on an air of tension — bordering on panic,” Axios announced.

Proof of the “panic” attack? “McAuliffe cut off one television interview last week,” the outlet claimed. That seems like thin confirmation, considering candidates juggle media interviews all the time. Plus, the Democratic did no such thing — he agreed to a 10-minute interview with a local Sinclair TV station and actually gave them 11 minutes.

Is McAuliffe’s campaign in a state of “panic”? Axios provided no tangible evidence that it is. But the press seems to be rooting for a Democratic loss in Virginia, so the “panic” claim gets widely aired. Eager to portray Joe Biden’s presidency as on the verge of collapse, the press is excitedly pushing the governor’s race across the Potomac as a potentially cataclysmic event for the entire Democratic Party.

“Virginia's gubernatorial election is more important than ever as a national barometer” a CNN headline announced this month. What CNN and everyone else covering the race means is that if Democrats lose, the Virginia race will function as a national barometer. If Republicans lose, it won’t mean a thing. Note there’s a governor’s race in New Jersey this year as well, and a Democrat is expected to win with ease. For some reason, that’s not a “barometer” of anything.

I hope Family Leave has been saved in this new bill

If not, we're gonna have a mighty hard time winning the next elections, as that is a very popular promise we made.
