Septua's JournalSCOTUS could empower state legislatures' control over elections
This is scarier than Trump World...
https://www.npr.org/2022/06/30/1107648753/supreme-court-north-carolina-redistricting-independent-state-legislature-theory
Based on this independent state legislature theory, they contend that the North Carolina state courts' decision to throw out and replace the legislature-drawn map violates the federal constitution an argument that radically departs from the U.S. Supreme Court's historical record of deferring to state courts on how state constitutions and laws should be interpreted.
A Supreme Court endorsement of the theory could upend elections laws across the U.S.
The high court declined in March to weigh in on an emergency request for this case, but in a dissenting opinion, three of the court's conservatives Justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch and Clarence Thomas signaled they would likely side with the Republican lawmakers' embrace of this theory.
I wonder what Tucker is saying now...
..about the insurrection not being an insurrection because no one had guns...
Reality vs Rhetoric
If you tune in to most any cable news station, the conversation (with the exception of the current Roe topic) gets around to gas prices and inflation. The entire country is supposedly overwrought with high prices cramping their lifestyle.
My work (service) requires a lot of driving within a 20 mile radius. I can't get from Point A to Point B without dealing with traffic slowdowns due to excessive traffic, burning up $5/gal gas.
I stopped at a popular restaurant Friday afternoon to pick up some take-out for dinner. Parking lot was full.
If everyone is suffering such a huge financial impact from inflation, how come everyone is still running up and down the roads and eating out at restaurants?
And by the way, gas prices have been high before...

Today's Select Committee Hearing was simply...
..stunning.Lot's of theories, not much evidence.
I guess it's already been posted, but it's worth repeating. AZ Speaker of the House Bowers:

"I do not want to be a winner by cheating."
AZ's Speaker of the House is a Republican I can respect.

I may, in the eyes of men, not hold correct opinions or act according to their vision or convictions, but I do not take this current situation in a light manner, a fearful manner or a vengeful manner, he said. I do not want to be a winner by cheating. I will not play with laws I swore allegiance to. With any contrived desire toward deflection of my deep, foundational desire to follow Gods will as I believe he led my conscience to embrace. How else will I ever approach him in the wilderness of life knowing that I ask this guidance only to show myself a coward in defending the course he led me to take.
In case you missed it...
..'cause I did. I heard it from a pro-Trumper...the 'electric car conspiracy'. Biden is driving up gas prices to force people to buy electric cars. And once they buy an electric car, the government will be able to shut it down at will.

Opinion on Trump
The article is a few months old but offers some hope...

But so far isnt actually that far and history has a way of catching up.
Trump is unique in that he rode his populist appeal all the way to the presidency. Hes already surprised me with how much relevance he continues to hold. But nothing in history suggests that he can retain this influence all the way to 2024.
Every hero becomes a bore at last, wrote Ralph Waldo Emerson and he might have added that they become a phony, as well.
"Intent", still not quite there.
That's another paraphrased Chuck Rosenberg comment relative to prosecuting Trump. We think we've seen "intent" proven but he says not yet. Most every time he's on a MSNBC daytime drama, he tries to explain what you know is not necessarily what you can prove. Below is from some previous commentary but the topic comment was from today, relative to Trump's intent to stop the Jan 6 electoral count.

Trump DEMANDS equal time
Yet another illustration of his psychopathic, dictatorial personality. He's nuts.
