U.S. Latinos fear new mass deportations may target all Hispanics

And they have good reason to fear, I think.

Laws like those recently proposed in Texas and Louisiana (and in other GOP led states, I would anticipate) would subject ANY person of Latino appearance to undue stops and searches, perhaps worse -

based on nothing other than their perceived ethnicity. Why should any person or family be subjected to such?

Oh wait. Here's an idea. DON'T VOTE FOR THE BIGOT IN CHIEF or his fascist henchmen.

U.S. Latinos fear new mass deportations may target all Hispanics - Axios

More than half of U.S. Latino adults worry any new mass deportations would target all Latinos regardless of legal status, a new Axios-Ipsos Latino Poll in partnership with Noticias Telemundo finds.

Why it matters: Former President Trump has promised mass deportations if he wins a second term, and past efforts have swept up U.S. citizens, creating generations of trauma.

By the numbers: 54% of Mexicans and Mexican Americans — the targets of mass deportations in the 20th Century — said they worried that any new mass deportation plan would target all Latinos, including U.S. citizens and lawful residents.

65% of Central Americans, who have been targets in recent deportations, said the same.

So did 47% of Puerto Ricans — who are all U.S. citizens — and 37% of Cuban Americans, who have benefited from decades of Cold War-era "special treatment" and what some scholars say are unique immigration privileges.

Overall, 52% of Latinos surveyed said they worry that all Latinos will be targets of the mass deportation of undocumented immigrants.

The REAL Fraudsters: The Ongoing MAGA Effort to Cull the Vote

Ever since their chosen one / insurrectionist / rapist LOST both the Electoral Vote and the popular vote (that's a landslide in dog years) the Big Liar's MAGA hoards, sycophants, and supporters have been stepping up their efforts to disenfranchise millions of voters (not that they hadn't already begun even prior to November 2020).

With the approaching election in November, look for even more despicably underhanded efforts on the part of MAGA to START THE STEAL.

New Bill Would Mean Open Season In Georgia For MAGA Voter Roll Challengers Like True The Vote - TPM

A new, Republican-backed Georgia election bill that has been sent to the governor’s desk has the potential to inject chaos into the upcoming election cycle if signed into law.

The legislation would, among other things, revise the standard for challenging voter eligibility, which could increase the likelihood that election denial groups and conspiracy theorists will be able to successfully file mass, baseless voter eligibility complaints before the 2024 election.

The bill could lead to voter suppression if it becomes law, voting rights groups warn, because it would lower the threshold for successfully challenging whether an individual voter is eligible to vote in the state.

Republican-controlled states target college students’ voting power ahead of high-stakes 2024 elections - CNN

Republican legislatures … are pretty transparently trying to keep left-leaning groups from voting,” said Charlotte Hill, interim director of the Democracy Policy Initiative at UC-Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy. Rather than trying to sway young voters, lawmakers seem willing “to shrink the eligible electorate.”

Opinion: Republican tactics to suppress the Black vote echo those seen after the Civil War - LA Times

In many states, Republican legislatures have arbitrarily restricted mail-in balloting, curtailed the number of days for voting, barred same-day registration and aggressively purged voter rolls, all measures that are likely to have the greatest impact on minority voters. Just in the last few weeks, Virginia removed 3,500 legal voters from its rolls. In October, Republican lawmakers in North Carolina forced through a law that could ultimately allow the GOP-controlled State Assembly to decide contested elections.

'They'd Be Gone!' Jim Acosta Stunned Trump Gets Away With Saying Biden Did Cocaine and Remarks On Jews, White Immigrants

And the reason WHY he gets away with it is, in part, because of the medias normalization of this criminal.

‘They’d Be Gone!’ Jim Acosta Stunned Trump Gets Away With Saying Biden Did Cocaine — Or Remarks On Jews and White Immigrants - Mediaite

CNN anchor Jim Acosta was stunned that former President Donald Trump faces no “consequences” when he says things that would end another person’s career — such as accusing President Joe Biden of doing cocaine before a speech.

On Tuesday’s edition of CNN Newsroom, Acosta ticked through a list of recent Trump outrages that he says would have ended a normal politician, but got little attention when Trump did it — like his cocaine remark, his comments about Jews who support Biden, or his cracks about welcoming immigrants from predominantly White countries.

CNN analyst Joe Walsh agreed with Acosta, and blamed the media’s “normalization” of Trump

Letitia James Scores Again, Nails Notorious MAGA Election Fraudsters

If it's an underhanded b****** move, 10 to 1 there's a MAGAt behind it.

Letitia James Scores Again, Nails Notorious MAGA Election Fraudsters - Yahoo

“The right to vote is the cornerstone of our democracy, and it belongs to everyone,” James said in a statement released on Tuesday. “We will not allow anyone to threaten that right. Wohl and Burkman orchestrated a depraved and disinformation-ridden campaign to intimidate Black voters in an attempt to sway the election in favor of their preferred candidate.”

The calls, directed at areas with predominantly Black populations, made wild claims during the summer of 2020 about how voting by mail was unsafe.

The robocalls insisted that voting by mail would put people’s personal data at risk of being used by local law enforcement to track old warrants, used by credit card companies to collect debts, and even used to make a database for “mandatory vaccines.”

The Cruel and Retrogressive Policies of the Republican Party and Why Many Don't Support Them

House Dems Expose How GOP Social Security Cuts 'Would Hurt Families' - Common Dreams
"This Republican budget is an attack on seniors, veterans, and the middle class," said the House Budget Committee's top Democrat.

U.S. House Budget Committee Democrats on Wednesday released a tool to help Americans understand how a newly unveiled Republican plan to cut Social Security "would hurt families across America."

The panel's Democrats targeted the Republican Study Committee (RSC), which includes around 80% of the chamber's GOP members and last month released a budget proposal for fiscal year 2025 that, according to Social Security Works president Nancy Altman, shows "the Republican Party is the party of cutting Social Security and Medicare, while giving tax handouts to billionaires."

Congressman Brendan Boyle, (D-Pa.), the House Budget Committee's ranking member, said at the time that Republicans had "now gone further than ever with their attacks" on the key programs, noting that their "extreme budget explicitly calls for cutting Social Security benefits for millions of Americans, ending Medicare as we know it, and making trillions in devastating cuts that would raise the cost of living for working families."

"Instead of saving Social Security and Medicare by making billionaires pay their fair share, House Republicans would rather break the sacred promise that every American should be able to retire with dignity. This Republican budget is an attack on seniors, veterans, and the middle class," he added.

Biden Says Economy Is 'Strong,' But 50% Of Voters Say Their Financial Situation Is Getting Worse As Markets And Employment Hit Record Highs

Nearly every metric for measuring economic prosperity backs President Joe Biden's proclamation in his State of the Union address in early March that "the state of our union is strong and getting stronger."

Unemployment statistics have reportedly hit all-time lows. ...Inflation also continues to drop...Gross domestic product (GDP) has also continued to grow at a relatively respectable rate.

Much of this indicates a strong economy in which consumers would seemingly be thriving. But according to a recent Harris Poll by American Political Studies (CAPS) at Harvard University, nearly 1 in 2 voters say their financial situation is "getting worse."

THE DEVIL IN THE DETAILS:

Most groups said their financial situation was getting worse, with the exception of Democratic voters, those ages 35 to 44, urban voters and Black voters who say their situation is "improving."

(oh? I thought Biden hadn't done s---- for Black people...as certain Black Trump supporting 'notables' had claimed.)

Of course, "Republican voters saw the largest disparity, with 65% of GOP voters saying it's getting worse"

because those fkrs wouldn't admit it's gotten better ANYWAY.
