the advent of the so-called "birtherism" against Barack Obama backfired during the 2008 election because of McCain (who was born in Panama and technically not even on the base - he was supposedly born off base)... And thus some realized "what's good for the goose is good for the gander" (thus the resolution for McCain). And the irony still exists today with Rmoney as long as the rethugs continue to twist into pretzels making up nonsensical definitions of what is "natural born".

We know that being the child of an American citizen = an American citizen and being born in the U.S. = an American citizen. But rethugs want to change the rules to fit their crazy birther rants against one person - the current President of the United States.
