(6,810 posts)She knows better than to attack a young person who will be coping with the trauma of surviving a school shooting for the rest of his life and daring to be angry about the failures of previous generations that led to that. She recognizes that that experience has ignited a fire in his and his peers' bellies. She's smart enough to know it is good and proper to tap into that energy because they are part of the next generation of Democratic leaders and thinkers. Their anger is righteous over the failure of older generations to meaningfully address the issues they created and expect the younger generations to deal with. She recognizes his comments were anger of failures of everyone whose responsibilities to protect the young are legion, but that his comments are not a personal hatred of her. She hasn't told Hogg to sit down and shut up like Whoopi did AOC. Nor has she done so to AOC herself. Another fire and whirlwind of young energy she knows she must tap into because they, not her, are the future of the Democratic Party.
She hasn't taken being called "old" personally. She understands it's part of a much larger cross-generational narrative that she's working to make better for all, and she knows she needs people like Hogg and AOC to get there while God grants her the time.
