In reply to the discussion: David Hogg Masterfully Trolls The Gillette Commercial MAGAts [View all]NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)45. I wish the same thing.
I wish I could be perfect like you.
I wish the same thing.
A person who's never uttered a single word that anyone has taken offense.
It's hard work but with practice, it's possible.
This is a child (yes, a child)
Oh, GMAFB. He's 18, and he was 18 when it happened. He's not a "child" who is cranky because he missed his nap-time.
and seems to be having some success where others failed.
Just imagine what's possible if he was acting like the young man, the ADULT, that he is.
So he said Speaker Pelosi is old. She is a few years younger than me, and that makes her old.
He wasn't making an offhand or innocent reference to her age... he was using it as a pejorative!
He was clearly and intentionally being insulting and vulgar. He was insinuating that she was incompetent because of her age. He was insinuating that an actual ally like Pelosi didn't care.
When someone starts splitting-hairs and making excuses by saying "well it's true, she IS old" has already lost the argument. That's a weak defense for his offensive insults.
She understands youthful indiscretions.
Irrelevant whether she understand them or not. I understand them too. But that's not excuse or a reason to not call him out on his ugly and immature words... his immature ATTACKS on an ally.
We old folks (or many of us) can reflect back on our youth and wish a thousand times we could un-say some utterances we've made.
Nobody can "un-say" ugly insults once they've been uttered. But he has the opportunity to apologize, yet he hasn't. Why? --- Instead, he's doubled-down and reaffirmed the insult.
I have no idea why you insist on trolling Mr. Hogg.
Nobody is doing that. But I do believe that if he wants to hold himself up as a "progressive" voice for gun-control and gun-safety then he needs to man-up and admit he was wrong. He needs to apologize.
He has volunteered to take on an adult's role in his activism, therefore he needs to ACT LIKE AN ADULT. And people who want him to be successful need to stop making excuses for him. It serves no good purpose to make excuses for immature punk-like behavior from someone who ought to know better. He's not a baby.
Does he want to be taken seriously? If so, it's time for him to man-up. Having a reputation of insulting allies and acting like a spoiled brat doesn't help him or the cause. He needs to do better, and he can start with an apology.
I'll be reading you in the future with a jaundiced eye.
How awful. I'm crushed.

That such vitriol is being thrown at a school shooting survivor is impressive.

You've spent this entire thread ranting and raging about it. Not sure if it's silly or sad. nt

I thought it was long-understood that Pelosi doesn't need a White Knight to defend her honor.

False equivalencies reveal that you're arguing from a position of weakness.
