it will have that effect. It might create the perception among conventional forces that special operations forces aren’t subject to the same discipline they are and are treated with more leniency.

There is already a well-established divide between officers and enlisted when it comes to punitive actions and the perception of leniency. For example, officers are “dismissed” from service instead of receiving a bad conduct discharge or dishonorable discharge and their DD214 will reflect dismissal. An enlisted DD214 will state bad conduct or dishonorable if that is the discharge received.
