If we at least had gun safety classes in schools or if the NRA (former member here) at least followed it's own mandate to promote gun safety and responsible firearm ownership at least my concerns regarding public health and public safety were being responded to, I'd go back to more private ownership. Right now? No, we have a deadly crisis.

I used to believe in non registration. Now I'll never go back to that. We need strict registration and a national data base that actually does help keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill and the criminal.

A good place to start is if there's a peace warrant of some sort against you, the police at least hold your guns until your issues are sorted out. That alone would have a big impact on the murder rate by firearms.
