Just like on 2000 and 1980. They didn't get everything they wanted, so they threw a red faced tandrum in a corner while the wrong person got voted into office. So that person makes a freaking mess of things and finally comes along a democratic President who starts cleaning things up. But the "my way or the highway" types attack the change that president makes and sit on their thumbs during midterms, so republicans take control and that democratic President now has constraints on what can be done, the my way idiots go nuts about that blaming the democratic President and not the real culprits, themselves and republicans. So the democratic President's term is nearing an end, and the time to elect a democrat to keep things moving in the right direction comes up, the my way types see that as a chance to "teach" democrats a lesson instead of seeing things correctly, a way to get a lot of what we want instead of fighting daily to prevent another rollback of policy. So the republican gets elected instead of a democrat to keep things rolling the right way. Before someone "point out" the obvious, 1980 was a chance to reelect a democratic President, but the same dynamic was there, the my way or else types fucked things up for the country and the world, but the thing that totally enrages me is they can never see their role in enabling the republican to do the damage.
