Could be. I certainly wouldn't take the other side of that bet.

It is really funny. The fact that you proposed this bet got me thinking that the Republicans really do see the campaign as a strictly rhetorical contest. Maybe that's why they do not seem to be worried about facts or truth. Whoever has the best rhetoric, the best story, the best sound bytes wins. They don't care about truth because it is all about the big lie that the Democratic Party is evil. Anything to keep that message at the forefront is justified.

They have been doing it for decades and Democrats have done little to stop them. Maybe it is because Democrats have wanted to be the adults at the table. I just don't know.

But having watched it for decades I see the Republicans' rhetoric beginning to unravel like a cheap sweater. I have thought that President Obama has been too accommodating, but I am no longer sure of that. I now think he may have played his hand about right. We will see in the next weeks.

I think we'll see this as a campaign for the history books. Since late spring I have seen very few miscues by the Obama team, and no major ones. It makes me happy every day that he's our President.
