In reply to the discussion: Goodness gracious, DU! Can we stop with doom and gloom? [View all]OneBro
(1,159 posts)In this bizarro world where Trump is President of the United States and STILL commands 80+ percent of the white, evangelical, dependable voters; where right-wingers control the Senate and most of our appellate courts (which have systematically gutted the Voting Rights Act), it is understandable that some of our members are voicing their fears, concerns, and nightmares about the future of our country.
I have no idea whether doom and gloom helps to suppress the vote because voters feel no hope and thus stay home, or that it somehow inspires people to get off their asses and vote because they know their one vote can make a difference. I suspect, though, that calling people "concern trolls" or "worry warts" ultimately does little to help the Democratic cause.
