13. Television is not a good medium for news, whoever does it.

The moving images and sounds largely bypass our critical thinking skills, and most of us are too lazy to analyze what we've seen and heard afterwards. Television news is all about emotional impressions. That's why it works so well as propaganda.

Written news can be analyzed as it's read. It doesn't flow by any faster than one's critical mind can process it.

I quit television news and opinion shortly after September 11, 2001. That television news coverage was a shit show.

My wife has never been a regular viewer of television news. We read all our news and have paid subscriptions to several digital news sources.

We don't have cable, satellite, or broadcast television and only see television commercials when we are visiting family who still watch traditional television.

Most of the younger people in our extended family don't pay any attention to traditional television or radio. They stream everything.
