(41,963 posts)Its the only purposefully all woman political show on television. Its won multiple Emmys and gone through multiple co-hosts. The show intentionally has at least one conservative co-host, which takes it out of the category of simple echo chamber for liberal views, though it clearly and unapologetically has that bias.
Ill note that having the conservative POV has kept the show in the public eye far more than the echo chamber would. Its regularly a subject of debate (read, trolling and outrage) on social media. This is a good thing, and they know it.
The shows aimed at average viewers who have time in the middle of the day. Its got a predictable formula and imo has lost a bit of edge over the years as the idea of edgy has gone over a cliff into rabid.
Im not surprised any more that on DU people often just hit and run rather than actually discuss a topic. Its too bad. But as for me, most of the hosts irritate me at times. Thats good. I think having a former staffer of 45 who no longer supports him is a decent, if controversial idea. I think Wanda Sykes is making a statement and Id bet money shell change her mind if she has a reason to want their publicity for something. Hell, this IS getting their publicity for something.
Theres nothing in media that isnt carefully weighed and calculated. Nothing. Ill continue to see where The View is going. Its good to see women in the lead, in charge, able to take the positive and negative and make that part of the program.
