(59,503 posts)Also consider it might be affected by earlier questions. The fact is most people care about of mix of things. It may well be that someone who is very concerned with the cost of living and reproductive rights.
In reality, the cost of living will likely be the same in 2023 no matter who controls the senate. Inflation is a worldwide problem. However, reproductive rights can change enormously depending on who controls Congress AND the presidency. Who wins Senate seats NOW is important because otherwise everything rests on a presidential veto. If we go into the 2004 having lost one or more seats, it makes it harder to win the majority in 2024.
Biden did amazing things with the narrowest of margins in both Houses. But, if the Republicans take the majority in either, he may be able to do almost nothing.
