However, you can "always change your mind" about becoming a delegate or decide that the "exposure isn't what I wanted"...
I'm a state delegate (which isn't anything near a national delegate). Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the state convention this year because I truly do have a family issue. It's not that big of a deal with state delegates because our state candidates are determined by primary. The RNC will need to replace Barron because the presidential nomination is determined by delegates.

The at-large delegates, who have to be Florida residents registered to vote as Republicans, were selected by the roughly 40 people on the Republican Party of Floridas executive committee, spokesperson Helen Aguirre Ferré said. Another 84 delegates were chosen by party leadership in each congressional district.
