(29,809 posts)Nancy does not need the backing of billionaires. She has a very safe district. And she is the best vote counter and strategist the Democrats have likely ever had.
She had ZERO motivations to "backstab" Biden. She has been House Speaker twice and has no ambitions to either be Speaker again or run for President or whatever.
When she went to talk to Biden about remaining on the ticket, it was out of concern about what was best for the nation and for the party.
When you care about something so much, it is just really hard to quit doing it. It's like when Joe Montana left the 49ers and went to the KC Chiefs. He knew he wasn't the greatest quarterback to every play the game ( in my view ) anymore... but he could not quit the game. No matter the state of his knees and arm. I get it. The niners got his backup, Steve Young, and went on to win more Superbowls. But it was a sad day when Joe left SF. But life goes on, we get knocked down but we get up again.
Time to get up again. We cannot let this decision by Biden end in defeat for our great party and make that defeat his legacy.
