(28,979 posts)In the country I want to live in, Michael Brown would be studying for his finals today. Officer Wilson would be helping an arthritic auntie across the street. He would know the kids on his beat by name. His partner would be a man who had grown up in the neighborhood. They would be there to "serve and protect." Officer Wilson wouldn't be so damn afraid. In fact, he wouldn't need a gun. And neither would anyone else. Every man, woman and child deserves a healthy and safe community to live and work in.
Officer Wilson called Michael Brown a "demon." But there is more than one kind of demon, and Officer Wilson certainly has one within his heart whether he can admit it or not. It is not fair that the people of Ferguson couldn't count on their neighborhood cops to be human. Because Officer Wilson is a coward. He did not really risk his life for the community. He executed someone -- by his own admission -- because he was so frightened. He was a coward who had the power of law to apply deadly force in that situation. I don't think he has much to be proud of.
